12 ounce bottle. Pours a pale straw golden color. Small rocky white head. Light lemony grainy malt aroma. Sweet lemon wheat malt. Noticeable honey notes. Refreshing, but very thin bodied. Your not drinking this for itís complexity and character. This is strictly a hot weather session beer. My wife thinks this is delicious. Me, I would rather have a German wheat bier.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a weizen glass. It had a best before date of 10/27/14. My girlfriend left a six-pack of this in the fridge (itís not mine, I swear!).

Appearance: A lager-like appearance with a clear golden/yellow hue with plenty of visible carbonation. Pours to a small, white, soapy head which almost completely dissipates and leaves no lacing.

Smell: An odd scent of wet grain and adjuncts. No wheat beer aroma at all. Off putting.

Taste: I donít drink ďcraftyĒ beers because they all tend to be exactly that: pseudo, faux or quasi craft and Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat is the epitome of this. Thereís no way a seasoned craft beer drinker would mistake this for even a mid-level American pale wheat ale. However, a lager drinker looking to try something new might find it interesting, which would explain the palette here.

The flavor is a bit difficult to describe because thereís so little of it. Itís an extremely mild taste of light malt and wheat from start to finish. The label indicates itís brewed with orange peel and clover honey, though neither of those flavors are dominant here. Perhaps thereís a hint of them on the finish, and only momentarily, and only if the beer warms up significantly. Hops are nowhere to be found, and thereís a slightly dirty aftertaste. Otherwise it actually tastes a bit like a lager. Perhaps this is a kolsch or cream ale disguised as a wheat or some kind of blonde. Whatever the case may be, the fact remains it has little to no traditional wheat beer character and is entirely too bland to enjoy.

Drinkability: I donít think anyone with a refined palate is drinking Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat for the flavor. If youíre drinking this for the performance value, then thatís at least understandable. The mouthfeel is, not surprisingly, rather thin and crisp. Itís refreshing while in the mouth, though thereís a starchy aftertaste (but itís easily tolerated). It has as much flavor as youíre going to get out of a 5.2% ABV macro brew. If youíre a mainstream drinker and want an easy-drinking summer beer I could see this being sessionable.

It has a hazy golden straw color with a big foamy white head that hangs out and leaves nice lace on the glass. The aroma has a touch of sweet wheat malt and honey with a hint of orange peel. Its flavor has a mild wheat presence with as noticeable sweet honey character. Orange citrus and mild hop bitterness add to the crisp refreshing character. Its light to medium bodied with average carbonation and it has a slightly sweet finish.

Drank from bottle. Almost no nose. Taste is wheaty, with an abrupt sour finish. Decent beer. Average carbonation, medium body.

Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat. Tasted on 5/29/14 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Frugal MacDoogal. Pours clear pale orange with an average, fizzy white head that quickly recedes to thin lace. The nose is as advertised with honeyed wheat and a very light hint of citrus bitterness. The flavor is a bit more sweet up front, moving to a light citrus bitter component. The body is medium with full, fizzy carbonation and a short honeyed finish.

12oz bottle from Orchard Fresh, Orchard Park, NY. Hazy straw in colour with a tight white head; slight honey aroma; grainy body with a subtle honey taste thatís not too sweet; and a not unpleasant finish. Rather bland, but could have been far worse.

This beer is not totally useless. It is not the best beer in the world but it is definitely not w/o its good qualities. It basically tastes and smells like a lemon cookie. It has a clean, wheaty malt chaacter; itís a bit sweet; and it has a touch of lemon. Despite the sweetness, vigorous carbonation keeps this feeling at least relatively light on the palate. Definitely, this is not a shining star on the craft beer scene but as far as "crafty" beers go, you could really do much worse.

Yellow light beer appearance. Aroma of a sweet bread dough. Sweet flavor, a little honey and citrus. Fizzy feel.
