1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Looks as good as a strong fruity raspberry or cherry beer, but the aroma is very off. My wife likes the aroma but I hate it. The flavor and the beer both have plenty of butter, esp. the beer. I am surprised by how poorly the beer sits, considering how decent some of the other Blue Moons sit.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
750ml bottle tasted blind. Artificial red-wine color. Thin, foamy off-white head. Sugary chemical blueberry syrup. Tastes like a cheap wine mixed with a beer, or maybe a mead. Red cola flavor. unimpressive, one I’ll avoid. Disturbing.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The aroma is mostly wheat ale with a touch of wine. The appearance is purple with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. The palate is average. Overall a better than average beer but not by much.

Blue Moon Impulse
750ml bottle. Pours red wine color, pink fizz. Aroma of fermented grape juice, not vinous at all. Flavors of cabernet, wheat malts. Tastes like a wine with the body of a beer. Thin wine finish, very fruity. The very best out of the Blue Moon Wine-beers.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours out a dark cherry hue with a pinkish fizzy head that disappears fast. Nice nose of red berries and red grapes with a sweet touch of Riesling and port. Unfortunately the flavor is a bit light with wheat tones that are somewhat unnecessary, with a grapey wine acidity. Still has some lovely red fruit and port tones but it’s not something I could do a whole bottle of.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
From bottle. Light cabernet sauvignon nose with a little wheat sweetness. Deep pink/rose clear with thin pink head. Medium body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet grape juice with wine tang. Predominant red wine flavor with mild wheat sweetness and light tannic bitter after.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with a moderate pink head. Nose is very much like wine - cabernet sauvignon happens to be my favorite type of wine, so I like the nose on this. Taste has strong notes of grapes - it’s almost more like a wine than a beer. Interesting brew.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a velvety magenta with a nose of cab, light cherry juice, grassy strawberry, and a touch of toasted vanilla. Flavor is an upfront rush of cab quickly tempered by a harvested bread and grass smorgasboard. Finishes clean and cabby. Average mouthfeel. Not bad; very interesting.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sample 2/13 (Binny’s Downers Grove)--Pours ruby with no head. Aroma of wine. Taste of wine. Interesting concept but something I am surprised made it to market.
