Wheat ale brewed with the juice of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

750 ml bottle. This pours like grape juice with a pretty purple head and a deep red clear beer under it. It kind of smells like grape juice, too, but more vinous. My first thought after one sip is that it resembles communion juice. Grape flavor with a bit of wood and malt. The wheat ale aspect filters in finally and seems to be little more than a vehicle for the grapes. My first thought was not far off. That being said, this is completely inoffensive and extremely drinkable.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a dark blood red-plum with a large foamy dark pink head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dryish and musty merlot and tart cherry. The flavor was dryish, musty and dusty merlot with hints of tart cherry, vinegar and wood. Medium length musty merlot finish. Medium body.Somewhat disappointing.

The local grocery knocked this down to nearly half of its old price, so I decided to give it a go. A deep burgundy red with hints of light brown when held to light. A little tiny bit of a pink head clings to the edges of the glass. Strong vinous smells overpower the beer. A possible whiff of caramel sneaks in. The taste is dominated by the grapes. I only get a light hint of a lame american style wheat behind the huge grape presence. The beer is absolutely overwhelmed in this one. I assume this is gunning for wine lovers looking at the bottle style. Decent and different, but this one doesn’t know what it wants to get across.

750ml bottle tasted blind. Artificial red-wine color. Thin, foamy off-white head. Sugary chemical blueberry syrup. Tastes like a cheap wine mixed with a beer, or maybe a mead. Red cola flavor. unimpressive, one I’ll avoid. Disturbing.

Bottle, cellared for 18 months. Pours hazy purple, small purple head, dissipates fairly quickly, some lacing. Aroma is grape soda and wheat. Flavor is light sweet, grape, vinous, low bitterness; a bit of grape must. Medium body, high carbonation. Not terrible.

Looks as good as a strong fruity raspberry or cherry beer, but the aroma is very off. My wife likes the aroma but I hate it. The flavor and the beer both have plenty of butter, esp. the beer. I am surprised by how poorly the beer sits, considering how decent some of the other Blue Moons sit.

Pours ruby into a tulip. No head. Red grape aromas. Thin with cold duck front to back.

Blue Moon Impulse 750ml bottle. Pours red wine color, pink fizz. Aroma of fermented grape juice, not vinous at all. Flavors of cabernet, wheat malts. Tastes like a wine with the body of a beer. Thin wine finish, very fruity. The very best out of the Blue Moon Wine-beers. (3565).

The aroma is mostly wheat ale with a touch of wine. The appearance is purple with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. The palate is average. Overall a better than average beer but not by much.

bottle. deep ruby with small head. bland wheat ale with some very light red wine/grape flavor. slight booze. this is so close, yet so far from being an awesome beer. a little tart bite would help so much.
