We crafted our single-style abbey ale with select roasted malts, a hint of Belgian sugar, and a touch of wheat for a rich, caramel flavor and a wonderfully smooth toffee finish. Itís perfect for those chilly winter days.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours clear copper with an off-white head that left quickly. Aroma is sort of light treacle. Med body more or less. Flavor is very sweet. Treacle moving to caramel moving to toffee. I used to think those were all about the same, but this brew illustrates my error. Itís really too sugary (I canít use malty). Meh.

Bottle. Poured clear light brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted caramel aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Smooth drinkable beer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Supermarket Liquor Fort Collins. Pours a reddish orange appearance with a light brown head. Caramel, banana, nutty aroma. Kind of chewy, toasted caramel malty, light candy sugar, slightly fruity, nutty flavor. Bleh.

355ml twist of fbottle. Amber bronw pour. Aroma is light gingerbread and fruits. Falvor is midl, light toastiness, caramel, a bi too sweet, not offensive at all but not good.

Bottle. Nutty brown sugar malt and light spicy/herbal aroma. Chestnut brown with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt and mildly bitter herbal hops flavor. Not bad but no Belgian characteristics - more just a straight forward brown ale.

12oz bottle, big thanks to the friend that let me have this -- I think Callipalegic? Date on bottle is Apr2015. Pours a clear red brown color. Thin khaki sort of bubbly head. Caramel malt, dark fruit, mustiness up front, toffee, touch of chocolate. Mild spiciness, touch of earth. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, light to moderate carbonation. Slick texture. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter, mild spiciness. Kind of plain, malty, and musty on itís own, but it really works well between bites of my sandwich.

Bottle. Holy crap, could the brewer give less of a rats ass about making this an abbey-style ale? Mild raisin and nut in this, and it isnít offensive, but itís completely half-assed. Whatever.

Bottle, room 212, 19/02/14. White lidded mahogany. Malt loaf with strawberry jam nose. Malt loaf studded with black cherry; light nuttiness and rusk in the afters. Sweet and inoffensive in a dobbelbock diluted with cheap tinned brown bitter kind of way.

"Pales in comparison to every trappist beer, most Belgians, and the majority of American Dubbels. That said, better than average for a Blue Moon offering. Nothing wrong except the overall impression of generic(ness)? Light yeast and malt and candi sugar. Not much else."
