COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We crafted our single-style abbey ale with select roasted malts, a hint of Belgian sugar, and a touch of wheat for a rich, caramel flavor and a wonderfully smooth toffee finish. It’s perfect for those chilly winter days.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/13/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Okay aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with poor strength. Taste of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy yeast spiciness/bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with a solid malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a decent brown ale, but it felt more like an English than a Belgian style. All around solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and pretty smooth and easy to drink. A fairly enjoyable offering.

I can’t be as harsh as others. It does have a nice molasses beer flavor. Sweet sorghum. Thin fading head. malty. an average beer but not bad for coors!

20.02.2015. 12 fl. ox. Bottle. Bread & Butter, New York. Dark brown coulor with tan head. Aroma and flavours of dark malts. Notes of grassy bitter hops. A little cellar touch. There is also some faint sour notes. Rather short bitter aftertaste. Body is medium to thin. There is some good flavours here but its a little thin and flavours dont last.

12/20/14. 12oz bottle from my dad’s fridge. Another beer I was surprised I hadn’t had already. Amber pour with a small khaki head, mild lacing. Okay aroma, candi sugar, caramel, a touch of a Belgian aspect. Inoffensive flavor, caramel, candi sugar, a bit of a yeastiness, malty. Not bad.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into tulip glass. Appearance: pours a thick, foamy beige head that drops moderately with some faint lacing. Color is a rich copper-amber. Abundant streaming carbonation. Aroma: rich whole wheat bread dough, caramel, coriander, cinnamon, raisins and fruity hops. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, a bit sticky and very frothy with a somewhat wet finish. Flavor: cocoa powder, rich roasted barley, caramel, a bit of spice, and some fruity and earthy hops. Overall: very well done and enjoyable. I can’t really complain about this one.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. Deep chestnut with a thin cream head; malty aroma; sweet caramel malt taste; and a smooth toffee finish with some lingering spicy malts. Not Belgian, not Abbey, but blandly drinkable.

Bottle pour deep red copper with thin tan head rapidly dissipating. Nose Sweet caramel, Belgian candy, slight apple, hint of mineral. Taste lots of caramel malt up front, then fleeting Belgian character. Mid to late palate moderate astringent bitterness. Sweeter grainy malt on the finish. Nothing special but nothing overtly disgusting either. Part of a Holiday gift pack.

12oz bottle, big thanks to the friend that let me have this -- I think Callipalegic? Date on bottle is Apr2015. Pours a clear red brown color. Thin khaki sort of bubbly head. Caramel malt, dark fruit, mustiness up front, toffee, touch of chocolate. Mild spiciness, touch of earth. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, light to moderate carbonation. Slick texture. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter, mild spiciness. Kind of plain, malty, and musty on it’s own, but it really works well between bites of my sandwich.
