agillespie81 (86), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 Deep amber color......fluffy head. Light malt aroma, with many sweet notes of caramel. Slightly sweet malt flavor continues in the front, though quickly overpowered by an extremely crisp mouthfeel. A few citrus and hop notes manage to sneak out in the back......finishes a little dry. This beer might actually have turned out well, if not for the intense carbonation. Tmoney99 (3395), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle from shigadeyo. Poured clear amber color with a large frothy off-white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Heavy grassy citrus aroma. Light to medium body. Moderate grassy sweet flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Very intersting just above average brew. Lofgrep (2), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA does not count Jul 2, 2008 Marginally better than what’s usually available at establishments without a beer focus, since it actually has some body and flavor. Every time I’ve had it on tap, the aroma is more or less covered up by the orange slice bartenders insist on including. Some banana aroma is present. Appearance is bright, hazy, maybe a little fizzy even. Flavor is overpowering, even cloyingly sweet, with over-the-top clove/banana/orange peel estery notes. Palate would be better if this were not so sweet. Overall, about what I’d expect from a "Belgian" being marketed by Coors. EithCubes (1713), Indiana, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle. Stale tire air rushes from the bottle to accompany the slight graininess. Really a nasty nose, Heavily-carbonated amber pour with a large, lacing, frothily rocky beige head. Taste is, thankfully, somewhat redeeming: lightly sour caramel with soft acidity, touches of citrus and brown sugar, and a light pleasantly grainy aftertaste. Orange rind and a slight herbal note. Soft, light body. Man, a letdown from Coors (never thought I’d write something like that), and yet, if you can get past the prelude, you’ll probably stay for the full experience.
From a marketing standpoint, how can they call this a Belgian Pale Ale? Does orange peel is equal to Belgian and Cascade is equal to Pale? At least it laces well. biznizness (664), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jun 13, 2008 Terrible excuse for a Belgian ale. Just an all-around horrible beer that should be avoided at all costs. I won’t even get into the details.
