Commercial Description:
Pale Moon is a drinkable pale ale that has a distinctive hop aroma without the lingering aftertaste. This Belgian-Style Pale Ale is brewed with European malts, Cascade hops, and a touch of hibiscus and orange peel. These ingredients create a rich copper colored ale with a flavor complexity that one would expect from the Blue Moon Brewing Company.

Bottle from Cavie. Amber pour with a little head. Aroma is hops, some grass, spices, and caramel. Taste is a let down. A little bitter, more grass, and bad grains.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a Sam Adams BL glass, the beer pours an orange/amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both average. Aroma is sweet malt, orange peel, and a bit of hops. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, and it has a lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, and it has good carbonation. Drinkability is decent, it’s smooth and not hard to drink at all. Overall I think this is an average brew.

Cloudy orange pour with a bubbly white head. Fruit on the nose; most notably orange, citrus and grapefruit. Also a very small hop spice. Taste is of high bitter hops and tight acidic citrus. Does not finish very well as it keeps it’s bitterness without letting many sweet elements in.

12 ounce bottle. This beer looks smells and tastes pretty watery but what would you expect from the Blue Moon franchise. There is a slight hint of hops but not enough to make this beer worth drinking

12oz from a friend. Pale amber body, clear, lightly sparkling, small white head with some lace. Musky, skunky and spicy aroma, coriander, amber malt, apricot. Medium-light body with foamy carbonation and a strangely watery-yet dry finish. Lightly flavored with peach-apricot, musky, long-soaked wood, leather, alcohol comes through, malt-favoring but hardly sweet. Hop finish is woody, slightly spicy in the direction of belgian/wheat flavoring.

Bottle - Pours amber with a cream-colored head. Smells sour and metallic, with some sugary notes and a whiff of orange and honey. Not picking up any hops though, which is weird for a pale. Taste is sour and syrupy with some off-barley and wheat flavors. There’s the slightest grassy hops taste on the finish, but it’s barely there. Sharp, biting, and a bit syrupy, this is a mess and nothing like I expected. Pass.

Muddled mess of a beer. Belgian pales do tend to be less hoppy and more tame than American brews, but this is terrible. The spices and fruit flavors were poorly intergrated and tasted flat out bad. The hop presence was almost non existent. Terrible beer!

Bottle. Pours an amber, clear color with a minimal, frothy and loose white head. Aromas of bananas, raisin, candy, and malts. Palate is crisp with a somewhat long aftertaste. Tastes of raisin and port, with malts and roasted malts. Actually a good beer for something that is so mass-produced.
