12 oz. bottle. Odd beer...has some confectionary sweetness in the nose with some odd hops and metallic notes which are all echoed in a taste that is simply unrefined. A decidedly average beer.

12 oz. bottle from a mix-pack, from the local QFC. Damn, this keyboard is sticky. Diaphanous copper appearance. Head sits around the circumference of the top. Doesn’t look like a Belgian ale. Light yeast aroma. This beer doesn’t have a pungent aroma, at all. It’s hard to get the aroma to my nostrils. Light flower aroma, with the aforementioned yeast doesn’t cut it. Light bitterness, at first, with some yeast and tea make my taste buds feel like garbage. I can’t say that there’s one great thing about this beer. It’s just very bland. The texture is awful, but if we’re talking about a Belgian ale here, well, the texture just isn’t cutting it. Overall, I could leave this beer in a "take it, or leave it" scenario.

Not very Belgian-y more of a lightly hopped amber ale that was a bit sweet. Serving:Bottle

I was not a fan of this beer...way way to heavy in the body for a pale ale and super malty. Hops didn’t come out at all. I had one and almsot skipped dinner the damn thing was so thick. Not my idea of refreshing. Also, for a "belgian" beer it didn’t taste like it had any particularly noticable yeast. BLEH

Bottle at GABF. Pours a hazy amber with a poofy head. Nose is light citrus and bread, odd fruitiness and moderatly hoppy. Some bready notes. On tasting, clean and crisp, minimal flavor, soft bitterness. Not much going on. Eh.

Pours a slightly hazy amber colour with warm cap that has good retention and lacing. Darker malts with notes of molasses and spices. Typical Blue Moon watery mouthfeel. Bread malts with again, notes of molasses. Another easy-going brew Blue Moon that has a small touch of Belgian (but not much).

A funny thing happened on the way to the Blue Moon Winter 2011 Mixpack. I bought it for the Spiced Ale special, knowing that I find all the Blue Moons generally drinkable, plus there was a $4 off of wine coupon which allowed me to bribe the wife. I get a 12 pack, and she gets a bottle of pinot grigiot. Come to find out, I had not had the Pale Moon yet. Blue Moon varietals are like something out of Forrest Gump - Blue Moon, Honey Moon, Spring Moon, Half Moon, Shoot the Moon, Big Moon, Yella Moon... well, you get the picture... hard to keep track. When cold, the aroma was very tannic, and had a slightly acrid chemical thing going on, but as it warms it gets very aromatic. Very clear, rosy light brown. Good label and bottle, except for the twist-off. Woody, toasty, lightly sweet. A little mossy/herbal business. Aftertaste is dominated by lemon pith/peel. Medium-light body. Nothing special, but it’s pretty drinkable.
