COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale Moon is a drinkable pale ale that has a distinctive hop aroma without the lingering aftertaste. This Belgian-Style Pale Ale is brewed with European malts, Cascade hops, and a touch of hibiscus and orange peel. These ingredients create a rich copper colored ale with a flavor complexity that one would expect from the Blue Moon Brewing Company.

Pours a light amber color with a moderate head. Hoppy aroma that drinks smooth and finished with a hint of hops. Nothing spectatular but certainly drinkable.

The body has a deep golden color with very good clarity. On top the head builds up a light fluffy layer of soapy foam before quickly fading down to a small ring on the top. It is just off white in color and its lacing is very slick and slides down the glass. The aroma has a light sweetness of malt with a hint of citrus and a very slight spicy accent. The main body has an almost honey like sweetness with a slight hint of citrus, mild spices and a fruity melon like thing going on. There are some light hop notes as well that work nicely with the subtle spices. It finishes on the sweet side with a smooth, wet and mellow texture. Its carbonation is soft and its medium gives it an easy drinkability.

From BA review on 2-21-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance –Pours a deeper amber-golden color with a nice billowy off white head. The head fades relatively fast leaving a little bit of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The nose is quite light. Light caramel and toffee notes are the most prevalent. These are mixed with a little bit of citrus and some spiciness. Taste – Carmel malt with a little bit of roastiness is the first detected. A little bit of sweeter orange citrus comes and mixes with the sweeter malt, although the citrus is quite light. A little bit of citrus bitterness moves in toward the end and takes the taste to its finish. Mouthfeel – The body is light to moderate with a little bit of sharpness. The higher carbonation matches the sharpness well, but neither really complement the taste, and somewhat contend with one another. Overall – This is a rather average brew. Of the Blue Moon varieties this one is likely on the lower end of the scale. It’s OK, but I would take other Blue Moon varieties over this one if given the chance.

This class and assignment has taught me that I do not like pale ale beers.

Last beer on Superbowl Sunday. I know. Pretty low. Clear amber. Slight fruity, malty, hint of an eatery yeast. Taste is beer soaked bread, minor fruity hints, grass. Meh.
