copper to orange pour with a small lacy off white head, not hop aroma more malts . The juniper does not jump out at you , hard to tell where hops end an d juniper begins . As it warms the Malt taste shows through the hops. Would have no problem drinking this agn.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
651 ml. twist cap bottle. Pours a medium, well retained ivory head, with extensive lacing, over an initially clear (see below) clear dark amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is heavy pine, resin from the hops, cereal, light roast with toast, biscuit from the malts, minimal esters....taste is slightly sweet, with hints of citrus (lemon), mild malts with vague hints of toast, finishing with a pine dominated bitterness, minimal juniper.....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, minimal alcohol warmth, acid finish. This is a weak attempt at a I/DIPA. The alcohol, complexity in both aroma and flavor are all low to the style. The juniper is quite hidden, and the whole recipe needs reworking. However on the second pour a tremendous load of floaters came sloshing out. Perhaps the beer was mis-handeled, but I got it at Applejacks. BJCP 6/1/10/4/5

1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
This is one big nasty IPA and that is a compliment to its genre. Yes, blue moon is entering into the craft beer arena fer sure, in a big way. This is a big beer. Mild aroma of perfume. On the buds it is a big thick rude waxy bullshitter. BM is now at craft DIPA status. Can’t taste much juniper, if any, but it certainly is mouth coating. If you like big soapy IPA, must try. Does have some co2 which saves it for a lager lover but make no mistake, this iz inyerface. Long sticky bitter finish. Kicks yah in the face. Wew, getting dizzy after this twist off cap bomber, heheh.

Short: A ’crafty’ DIPA that is half decent
Origin: 651mL Sample: 3oz Glass: Reidel Razor Stemless Tulip Price: Gift Date: 1/19/14
Long: Thank you DedicatedToFun for this wale. Clear orange pour with weak foam. Nose is perfume, booze, white alcohol, flashes of citrus hops. Taste is bitter orange peel. Palate isn’t too sticky, somewhat juicy. Not harsh, tannic, nutty, or papery. Decent all around
Flaws: Just call it Blue Moon Double IPA
Remedy: Don’t make a Blue Moon Double IPA
