3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
22oz twist-off bottle. Nice heavy pour, dark orange, light brown color. Thick foamy head. Aroma of pine, hops, spruce tips, juniper berries. Wow. Hearty texture, creamy mouthfeel. Toasted grains, caramel malts, malt backbone. Nice hops flavor. Nice pine notes. More malt forward than I expected, still well balanced. (3857)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bomber for 5.99. First time I have seen it in stores so I had to give it a shot. Pours a clear, deep amber with a fluffy white head. Smells kinda piney but mostly hops and citrus. A little caramel malt underneath as well. Taste is slightly fruity with malt, a little pine and a bitter finish. The flavors are mostly mild; nothing really stands out. Texture is thicker and creamier than other Blue Moon beers. Overall this is a pretty good imperial IPA. It hasnít blown me away, but I didnít expect it to.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a clear copper-golden color with several carbonation bubbles clinging to the insides of the glass (I can assure you my glass is properly clean). A clay gray-taupe colored head forms and fades nearly as quickly. Banana taffy aroma (the name of this beer is not Banana in the Neck strangely enough). I just tasted this beer and Iím going to drain pour it. A little too lively mouthfeel. No pine noted at all. Cheap banana candy flavor. Finishes with a chemical bitterness, no doubt accentuated by alcohol flavor. This is horrible.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
OK, so Blue Moon is a mega-brew pretending to be the product of a microbrewery, but they have done some good things. Pours a clear copper with a thick and fluffy cream-buff head. Aroma is heavy on the hops, mostly piney, with an underpinning of sour citrus, more Mandarin orange than grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, though not as much as the aroma promises, and more of the woody component comes through. Texture is somewhat fizzy, none too thick. Micros still do it better, but this is at least palatable.

Blue Moon has created a terrifically unique beer with this one. I look forward to trying some of their other limited release beers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Conyers, Ga. - Sigman Bottle Shop - 22 oz bomber. Dark copper pour, medium thick khaki colored head, nice sticky lacing. Aroma has some piney accents, some homebrew-like crystal malt over-wroughtness. Flavor is somewhat chewy with some citrusy grapefruit bitterness, some caramel sweetness, some homebrew crystal malt. Tastes as it if is trying to do too much with too little. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it. Had better of this style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is pine, juniper berries/mint, citrus and spices. The flavor is grapefruit, spices, citrus, syrup notes, malts and a bitter/tangy finish. Despite the twist top, surprisingly good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Lovely pine hints on the nose let you know this double IPA is coming. Juniper gives just a bit of depth, but doesn't hide the generous helping of hops.
Greater hop varieties might have generated some more interests, still this macro stands out from the crowd of attempts to show some brewing cred.
