3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (8954) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Capped 750 from the Vacaville BevMo. Pours fizzy light gold with a creamy/fizzy white head. Aroma is vinous/grapey/bready. Med body more or less. Flavor rotates grape/bread/sauvignon blanc, the goes a bit acidic, more wine, then fruity/wheaty. Then it starts all over again. Finishes dry, mildly acidic, and arguably a little bitter. Clean ending. Very nice.

14 karat pour with ample carbonation percolating up from the bottom of the glass, producing a lively ivory head that diminished to a ring quickly. Nose of grape, white wine, yeast, lemon, and freshly-cracked pepper. A bit tart, loads of citrus, lemon zest, grapefruit pith, bit of spice, and again very wine-like. Unique. Actually enjoyed it.

Bottle. Pours a glassy cheddar orange with a nose of straight-up white wine. Flavor is a quick blanc followed by a light, bready hops note that slowly fades back into the blanc. I’m no white wine fan (usually) but I like this one more than the Impulse. Lightly oily mouthfeel. I’d drink this again.

750 ml bottle poured aclear gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of straw, citrus and light floral notes. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, straw, citrus, light floral notes and a hint of spice with a crisp dry finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mora2000 (4040) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 8, 2012
The beer pours an extremely clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very wine like. I get a lot of the sauvignon blanc notes. The flavor is more of the same. The wheat and biscuit malt come through up front, but then there is a lot of white wine character. I get a little bit of acid, likely from the grapes. There is also a little bit of toastiness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice beer.

While not a supporter of Blue Moon and Coors, I would be interested to see what a rater might think about this beer if they didn’t know who made it. While its not the best, it is much farther from the ratings given previously and I am glad to at least see a true effort to make a more unique beer (even if this particular style has been done by the folks at DFH etc).
Pours a clear golden color with an effervescence that settles off quickly. Aroma is a dry, musty white grape-pineapple sweetness. The taste is very much a hybrid of wine and beer with the white wine flavors (middle of the road as far as sweet vs dry) up front and the body embracing the malt of a beer (I can taste the signature of a blue moon underneath). Really not a bad beer and certainly these ratings reflect the company vs the beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 davey101 (490) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 16, 2013
750 ml bottle into a tulip glass.
A - Pours a crystal clear amber body. Two fingers of soapy off white foam forms and dissipates quickly leaving behind a thin edging. This sits completely still if left alone for a few minutes. Minimal lacing.
S - This really does capture the grape variety. Very sweet and floral with that unique tropical dryness that you would expect from the wine. Finishes with some harsh graininess.
T - Less winey than the nose. Sweet grapes with a bit of wheat and cereal grains. Lacks complexity as its actually quite boring. Washes away quickly with a finish that is almost dry. Crisp and well carbonated.
O - I was pretty impressed with the nose, but the flavor just doesn’t carry through. This beer is very approachable and I can imagine people who enjoy the wine could appreciate this beer. A solid attempt, but not very memorable.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chandler0201 (625) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Clear yellow pour with large white head and a lot of lacing. Aroma of white wine (sauvigon blanc mostly), citrus, bready malts. Flavor of bready malts, white grapes (and wine), with a bit of watery mouthfeel. Interesting unique brew from a macro, though I would not see paying more than $3.99 for a bottle for this.

Pours pale gold into a shaker. White head quickly recedes to nothing. Mild wheat and grape aromas. Soft with sweet grape front to back.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3947) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a pale yellow-gold color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy sugar, honeydew, white grapes and a hint of pepper. The flavor was sweet sugar, honeydew, white grape and a bit of bread. Medium length tangy bread and grape finish with a bit of booziness coming out at the tail end. Moderately full bodied. Decent.
