While not a supporter of Blue Moon and Coors, I would be interested to see what a rater might think about this beer if they didn’t know who made it. While its not the best, it is much farther from the ratings given previously and I am glad to at least see a true effort to make a more unique beer (even if this particular style has been done by the folks at DFH etc). Pours a clear golden color with an effervescence that settles off quickly. Aroma is a dry, musty white grape-pineapple sweetness. The taste is very much a hybrid of wine and beer with the white wine flavors (middle of the road as far as sweet vs dry) up front and the body embracing the malt of a beer (I can taste the signature of a blue moon underneath). Really not a bad beer and certainly these ratings reflect the company vs the beer.

The wine notes are apparent in the aroma, and it blends nicely with the sweet wheat. Pours a clear light straw with a full white head. The grape juice is still there and was apparently added after fermentation was complete, as it adds a lot of sweetness. Light bodied, easy drinking. I’m surprised they got the alcohol as high as they did with this much residual sweetness. Glad I tried it, but probably would not get it again.

Pour is a clear yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a wheat ale base with some definite white grape juice. Flavor is dull and bland. Some wheat ale but none of the grapes show up. Finish is kinda thick and syrupy sweet. Picked up out of the bargain bin and that’s where this belongs.

Clean clear golden with a head that doesn’t last at all. Musty grape-y nose with tones of wheat and nectarine and dry white wine. The flavor brings forth that punchy wheaty and nectarine-esque flavor. White wine dryness with a little boozy yeastiness. Slightly complex but not really my flavour, with the typical boozy esters you expect from a wine barrel aged project.

THOUGHTS: Fairly wine-like. Nearly smack dab in between a white wine and a Belgian white beer. Hid alcohol fairly well for something so light in body and high in ABV. TECHNICAL: Drank 3/3/2013. Bottle. Poured a sparking clear, light yellow(?) with beautiful carbonation and an average, white head that mostly diminished and left barely fair lacing. The aroma contained light grain and wheat; light to moderate doughy yeast; grape; apple; white wine; and honey. The initial flavor was moderately acidic and slightly sweet; while the finish was moderately acidic, lightly sweet and slightly bitter with a short duration. There was wheat, white wine, doughy and dusty yeast, grapes, a little apple and grain. The light to medium body was quite dry with very fizzy carbonation and a dry and lightly alcoholic finish.

A sort of wine, cider, beer hybrid. Heavy on grapes and orange peel, malt, wheat, coriander. Aroma of yeast, malt, apples, grapes- more beer than anything. Thin and dry finish. This is pretty good.

Pour on tap at Black Bottle, pale golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of sweet fruit, grape, white fruit, hints of slight wheat, grass, hints of grain into a bit of biscuit, bread, eh. Taste is a mix of sweet orange, lemon, grape, slight yeasty note into a bit of biscuit, bread, finishing fairly sweet.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours a pale yellow golden color with a large foamy off-white head. The aroma and flavor have a big white wine character, light wheat malts, sweet honey and floral notes while the alochol level is really well hidden. Light, spritzy body. Overall, this beer isn’t bad. This beer is too expensive for what it is.

It doesn’t really work. The wheat ale is good enough. But it tastes like Welch’s was dumped in. Surprisingly. Mild for the ABV too.

Bottle. Light grape aroma. Clear golden body with thin, dissipating head. Flavor begins sweet with hints of grape and pear. Tastes like a carbonated juice, no hints of alcohol, hides the abv well. A very different beer...
