Rusted_Halo (11), USA Mar 26, 2008 For starters, this is not intended to be a traditional (disgusting) lime beer such as Miller chill or Tequiza. Those beers are intended for consumption by people who don’t enjoy the flavor of beer and need to disguise it with heavy lime (or furniture polish, in the case of Tequiza). This beer is brewed with lime leaves and lime zest, and the intent seems to be only the subtle hint of lime in an otherwise beer-tasting ale. I would say that the goal is met, but it’s not terribly interesting. If you gave this to someone who enjoys wheat ales in a blind tasting, they might not notice the lime. I prefer original Blue Moon, but this might be better to consume when it’s very hot outside. It has an assuredly lighter and more refreshing quality compared to traditional Blue Moon.
DarkElf (2650), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 18, 2008 30-Jun-08 (12-oz bottle, Best by 08-Jun-08: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) At its core, this is just another generic wheat beer with a heavy, very bready flavor. However, with each sip, the lime has enough presence to balance the wheat base in the entry. Unfortunately, within a few seconds, the lime fades off the palate, leaving the unpleasant, wheaty aftertaste of stale bread and heavy yeast. It’s medium in body and carbonation, but without a balanced and cleansing finish, the palate is left feeling unrefreshed. Lime is fairly prominent in the nose, but when swirled, the beer projects cardboard and bready wheat. Hazy golden in color and capped by a large, bubbly, off-white head that eventually settles to a thin ring. As it is, this isn’t a very enjoyable beer, but imagine where it would be without the lime! With poor drinkability being the main issue here, drink this beer cold and have food handy to quickly pick up where the lime leaves off. bones_41 (12), new ulm, Minnesota, USA Aug 13, 2008 Wheat beer smell with a hint of lime. A pretty clean secent. Nice golden color with a light fizz. Taste a a little lacking, plus it had a weird aftertaste. Not something I would proably buy again smjohnst (133), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2008 This was another pretty good spring beer. The lime leaves did add a nice citrus flavor to it but didn’t take away from the beer taste. gameface23 (89), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. Weak nose and appearance. I was really disappointed with this beer because I love Blue Moon. The addition of lime leaves was a mistake, in my opinion. Lime peel probably would have been a much better choice. dpjuart (555), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 1, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours slightly hazy amber with foamy, off-white head. Looks enticing. Not much nose, smells of wheat and slight banana, maybe some slight citric notes. Taste is an unfortunate amount of lime-esque notes accenting a wheat malt body with a slightly crisp ending. No hops, no real taste other than the lime. Odd metallic aftertaste. Could be the age. A big "eh" from me.
