In the 1940’s, Belgian-Style Pale Ales grew in popularity and were ordered by the round due to their balanced taste. Rounder, our expression of this sessionable style, is crafted with hibiscus and orange peel for a hint of spiciness and touch of wheat for a smoother, rounder taste.

Malts: Pale, Imported Caramel, Imported Light Caramel, White Wheat
Hops: Cascade
Our Twist: Orange Peel, Hibiscus

Pour is a clear brown with a average white head. Aroma is malt and a very minor ester. Flavor is better with some caramel malt and you definitely get lots of the orange peel. Finish is clean an uneventful. It’s ok nothing special worth a sample I guess.

The appearance of this beer is an auburn color with a small white head, and the aroma smells like caramel malt and orange peel. The taste is mildly sweet, slightly sour, and a touch bitter; the palate combines a medium body, average carbonation, long offendingly sour finish, and a slick texture.

12 ounce bottle. This is probably an alias, but rating it just in case. Pours a clear copper color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of, well, not much. Faint caramel and wheat. The taste is bready malts, nutty notes, stone fruits, a salty note and mild raisin and hops. Medium bodied.

12 oz bottle from my daughter’s sampler pack. Nose is caramel,a little citrus, and a very light note of the hibiscus. Lightly hazy copper orange with a medium, heavy lacing, long lasting beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet caramel, a hint of bitterness, and a little pepper. OK, not horrible, much better than an average pale lager.

Bottle. Copper pour with white head. Smells of yeast and slight hop. Tastes of the same. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Orange red with a small white head that is mostly diminishing. Slightly spicy black pepper aroma atop caramel and moderate toffee. There is blink-and-you’ll-miss-it hibiscus flower in there, but it is quickly covered by the sweet malts. Slightly spicy with notes of graham cracker, malted milk, slightly sour straw. Not terrible, but definitely mediocre.

12oz bottle, best by Sep/02/13. Clear orange color. Thin bubbly off-white head. Couple loose bits of lace. Medium body. Lightly soft, smooth moderate carbonation. More dry finish. Light citrus hops. Moderate bitter taste. Some sweet. Not much hint of the belgian yeast. Reasonably solid, for a macro

Do they know what belgian yeast is? This tastes like every other beer in the variety pack. Disappointing! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
