Bottle from the spring mix-pack. Nice coloration, a bright amber, slightly brownish. Small beige head. Mild scents of wheat and malt, just the slightest hint of orange/citrus. A little more of the orange in the taste, along with wheat and malt. Pretty much just how it’s described on the label. Mild overall. It’s decent, but doesn’t hold my attention for long.

Tasted on 1/19/15 from a capped 12oz bottle, thanks to Kyle. Pours clear dark orange with average white head that slowly recedes to a thick collar of lace. The nose is bready caramel malt with a very light herbal touch, and some bitter orange peel. The flavor is the same bready caramel malt with just the lightest hint of zesty orange peel. The body is medium with average carbonation and a short malty finish.

Bottle from mix pack, pours a clear copper with no head at all, and I poured it fairly aggressively, aroma is boring, sweet malt with a touch of spices, the flavor has a metallic front end with a sweet boring finish, ugh.

Bottle from Kroger. Pours a pretty amber with a small white head. Smells of root beer and copper. Tastes of leaves, dried grass, copper.

pours clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is hay, malt, and something else subtle that must be the Valencia. Ah yes. The orange definitely shows up in the taste. Some malt and just a hint of bitter as well. The finish is of average length, bittersweet. Not too bad of a beer IMO. This one’s been sitting in my fridge for many months, so maybe this one is actually better with some age?

12oz bottle - Part of the mixed 12pack. Very plain, rather underwhelming. Nothing overtly wrong with the beer, but nothing right either. Thin, watery, slightly soapy. Tasted like watered down regular Blue Moon.

THOUGHTS: Nothing special, but not bad either. A true gateway beer to craft beer. TECHNICAL: Drank 5/10/2013. Bottle. Poured a clear, brownish orange or medium copper with a small, off-white head that fully diminished and left almost no lacing. The aroma had moderate dark bread, grain, caramel, nutty and toasted malts; light spicy hops; and light orange. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter with a short duration. There was caramel, toasted and nutty malts, oranges and bread. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy with tingly carbonation.

"Not getting a while lot of orange or caramel. Even for a Blue Moon, kinda boring as at least the others have a bit of their own identity. Nothing off, but very very generic."

Serving: Bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. Hazy amber pour with a small white head. Light floral orange notes in the nose with a bit of yeast later on. Slight graham cracker sweetness with a little citrus, yeast, and citrus rind. Nothing to write home about here.
