Formerly Known as Valencia Amber Ale

Our limited-release Valencia Amber Ale is crafted with roasted malts, Valencia orange peel, and a touch of wheat for an uplifting orange, caramel aroma. It’s the perfect inspiration for taking advantage of the season.

Dark gold colour/light amber with a small white head. aroma is biscuity cardboard and light caramel maltiness with a hint of citrus. Earthy amber/pale malt body with light orange marmalade tones. Actually a decent amber, with some dusty maltiness being the main detraction. Not nearly as ’orange peel’ as I was hoping for either.

12oz bottle - Part of the mixed 12pack. Very plain, rather underwhelming. Nothing overtly wrong with the beer, but nothing right either. Thin, watery, slightly soapy. Tasted like watered down regular Blue Moon.

THOUGHTS: Nothing special, but not bad either. A true gateway beer to craft beer. TECHNICAL: Drank 5/10/2013. Bottle. Poured a clear, brownish orange or medium copper with a small, off-white head that fully diminished and left almost no lacing. The aroma had moderate dark bread, grain, caramel, nutty and toasted malts; light spicy hops; and light orange. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter with a short duration. There was caramel, toasted and nutty malts, oranges and bread. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy with tingly carbonation.

"Not getting a while lot of orange or caramel. Even for a Blue Moon, kinda boring as at least the others have a bit of their own identity. Nothing off, but very very generic."

Serving: Bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. Hazy amber pour with a small white head. Light floral orange notes in the nose with a bit of yeast later on. Slight graham cracker sweetness with a little citrus, yeast, and citrus rind. Nothing to write home about here.

@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amberwith a good 1" white head, streaks of lace. Taste is orange malt in a funky union that doesn’t work well at all. Slight bittering at the end isn’t enough to save anything. Not recommended.

12oz bottle from a Topps store in Hamburg, NY. An attractive reddish amber pour with a fast fading cream head; rich, sweet, caramel body with a dry malty finish. Not bad as an Amber Ale, but I was expecting more of the orange, which is only present as a gentle aftertaste. Perfectly rinkable, but could be much better with some more oranges.

From BA review rated on 2-20-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance –A light copper mixed with amber color. It formed a huge white head upon pouring which lasted with some persistence, leaving a little bit of lacing. Smell – Mainly malty in nature with some nice biscuit and caramel aromas. While those are the heavier aromas, there is a little bit of orange citrus aroma in it the smell as well that is more prevalent toward the end of the smell. Taste – Sweet malt is present up front. It consists of a mix of breadiness and some orange as well. The citrus and a bit of more bitter lemon seem to come into play more toward the end of the flavor profile. These citrus and lemon taste lessen the presence of the maltiness originally present, but leave a very nice taste in the mouth. Mouthfeel –A medium bodied brew with a lighter level of carbonation. Very normal, but not bad. Overall – This brew has a nice citrus and malt flavor, but lacks some complexity. It is very easy to drink and definitely not a bad brew. Well worth a try and one I hope Blue Moon keeps in the rotation.

Pours amber. Aroma is malt, Caramel, honey. Flavor is sweet with a lightly spiced hop flavor. Not bad but needs more rich, hearty malt flavor in my opinion.

Fizzy, honey medium brown appearance. Slight floral, malty aroma. Taste is a touch of citrus, touch of wheat, but mostly floral malt.

I was surprised by this. Copper pour with white head. Aroma musty malt. Taste sour and sweet. Orange is there but minimal.
