3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Loose 12 oz. bottle, 50˘ at Jewel. Probably the first Coors I’ve ever seen that wasn’t pale fizzy yellow. Instead it comes out almost brown as a dubbel, and under a big tan head. Smell has actual malt to it; will wonders never cease? Taste is likeable. Extra sugar does come into play here, tasting like a hint of brown sugar. Malt forward, a bit of wheat spice, maybe even a suggestion that Coors has a house Belgian yeast for their Blue Moons. Too weak in alcohol for this style, but I might not kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smells of caramel and brown sugar. Taste is like mildly bitter toffee and kind of roasty. There is a slight caramel note. Aftertaste is medium length with bitterness at first and then wheat and caramel. Sharp but medium carbonation and slightly foamy.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
This isn’t a great take on Belgian ale but neither is it a total disaster. It’s a bright, red clear color w/ a long-lasting head of medium white bubbles. It smells a bit fruity and bubble gummy w/ an edge of apple and some earthy/toasty tones as well. This is a medium bodied and lightly sweet beer w/ moderately vigorous carbonation. It tastes pretty nice but does start getting a bit heavy pretty early on, esp. for a lower gravity beer. It overall seems clean and well-brewed but while there is nothing really wrong w/ it aside from the texture, nothing really jumps out at you as being particularly great either.

At least I drank this one. Not much going on, but the hint of wheat takes the edge off this attempt at a dark beer. More toffee than dark fruit.

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Very boring dark beer by Blue Moon brewing company. Very limited carbonation. Smells very flat with barely any hint of a deep aroma. The beer is brown-nutty in color and the texture of this beer is very thin. This beer isn't high quality and I don't think it is worth trying.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce bottle pours a rich mahogany brown color with a small creamy beige head. Sweet toasted malt nose has notes of cane syrup and brown sugar. Sweet toasted malt flavor has a nutty pecan-like flavor that has a clinging, chewy mouthfeel. Slightly fruity with a touch of vanilla and grain in the finish.

12oz bottle -
A passable example of a Belgian ale. Aroma is sweet with caramel malts, raisins and cotton candy. Flavor is a bit watery, like a whiskey with too much ice. But it’s still drinkable. More raisiny like sweetness, some light caramel malts, a touch of banana with a kiss of toffee. I didn’t hate this.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance: medium amber brown with nice chestnut highlights; the head is tan, creamy, short, and quickly fading. Aroma: good nose of molasses, brown sugar, toffee, and lightly toasted nuts, with just a hint of cinnamon. Taste: caramel, light vanilla, light brown sugar, a bit nutty. Finish: watery finish, with a kind of syrup flavor but without the commensurate body. Notes: Flavors could have used substantially more balance through a better application of more traditional belgian yeast, rather than just (seemingly) relying on a dose of candi sugar. Palate was watery.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deeper amber color bordering on mahogany with a big fizzy white head. The head of the brew fades fast at first, but then greatly slows in recession as time moves on. Once the head has eventually faded away a light film is left on top the brew with almost no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is sweet with tons of caramel and molasses with some bready aromas mixed within. A little bit of spice smells are there as well producing a malty very lightly roasted and sweet smell overall.
Taste – The taste is very much as the nose would have suggested. It begins with a lightly toasted and bready flavor mixed with lots of caramel and some molasses. As the flavor advances spices of cinnamon and some allspice come to the tongue with some lighter fruit flavors. In the end, the mix of flavors, leaves a sweet and malty and lightly spiced flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Both are rather nice for the sweet flavors of the brew and make for a very easy drinker.
Overall –An easy drinking sweeter darker Belgian. Nothing exceptional, but for the price it was a good go to.
