Bottle. Hazy dark brown color, small beige head. Nice aroma, subtle sweet spice, vanilla, whiskey, coffee. Taste is boozy coffee and herbs. Not bad.

750 ml bottle, corked and caged, courtesy of RABinVA. Pours a typical dark brown with some ruby highlights. Gentle pour nets a 1 finger creamy beige head. Random bits of lace. Cocoa and orange on the nose. Kind of an odd aroma. Almost a tad sour. More of that sourness on the palate. To the thin side, but thats ok, it’s interesting. Some more orange and chocolate malt in the flavor with some wood notes. Didn’t pick up much in the way of bourbon. I liked it.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ovechkinator (18) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Pours a murky brown wit a thin, tan head. The aroma is mostly roasty, a little bit of chocolate and orange. Taste is much the same, but you pick up the slightest hint of bourbon. Not sure why some people find the bourbon overpowering, for only 6% abv the subtlety is nice. Probably the easiest-drinking barrel-aged beer I’ve had.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ben4321 (2991) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - NOV 21, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2012
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 11/21/12
Aroma: The nose is heavy bourbon/oak along with some dark malts
Appearance: It pours a hazed medium brown color with some light lace
Flavor: This one is dominated by the boozy flavor with some light underlying malts
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a soft carbonation, and a fairly hot finish
Overall Impression:
Booze overpower a bit, and takes away from the enjoyment. Lacks the balance of a great barrel aged beer. Not bad, but not a favorite for me.

Thank you motortoddhead. Deep brown-black pour with near-white head. Orange/citrus and spice with light roasted malt/cocoa, and faint dark fruit. Flavor is dark chocolate-covered fresh orange trailing out to light roasted malt. Barrel notes extremely low/came out in the nose a bit with warming. Palate about right for 6%. Unlike some of my other comrades, I enjoyed this one.
1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Kinz (2968) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Pours a dark brown, but not into the black, fairly large but loose head. Aroma of cooked orange and light chocolate. Very light body strike you immediately. Unfortunately, the next thing you notice is that something isn’t quite right here. Sour notes of an early infection come through, with faint orange and chocolate in the background. May 2013 cork. Just got this in the past week, not sure if this is from the old bad batch or the new "good" batch. Not happy with this at all. At least it didn’t gush. Drainpour. Will give this a shot again in the future - after Blue Mountain has figured out their Barrel House issues.

From a 22 oz bottle at a tasting. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Cherry, vanilla, and tobacco notes.

First batch exploded like R Kelly trapped in a closet, lets see how this goes.
Pours a clear brown with an offwhite head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, orange, vanilla, and oak. Tastes of roasted malt, orange, bourbon, tiny bit of the chocolate. I find it to be very decadent. Smooth, light body. Awesome brew, worth every penny.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - SEP 30, 2012
750ml, corked & caged bottle, from total wine in norfolk. this is the 2nd release after the first bottle run was infected something terrible. let’s hope this one doesn’t suffer the same fate. cork pops with a light hiss, no gusher here folks. pours a dark, cola brown capped by a thin, creamy, light khaki head that leaves light lacing. aroma is actually great, like a fresh Tobler chocolate orange with notes of milk chocolate, zesty orange peel, roasted malts, toast, and subtle hints of barrel in the form of bourbon and vanilla. flavor is delicious as well with notes of zesty orange peel complimented by dark chocolate, toasted nuts, coffee beans, and earthy hops backed by subtle, rye whiskey, charred barrel, and toffee on the back end. palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied with smooth, perfect carbonation and a lingering finish of orange and chocolate. overall, this is really a great beer from blue mountain and a really great job at making up for an initial mistake.

Bottle thanks to Market Street wine shop. Pours black with a nice head. Malt and fruit on the aroma with chocolate and dates. Nice taste that is lighter and some fruit, a little lighter than expected. Nice palate that isn't super bourbon-y.
