Medium orange, clear, decent head. Big citric hop aroma, mostly grapefruit. Gummy caramel malts wither under a barrage of citric hops. Pine on the finish, as well as some alcohol heat with the lingering bitterness. Very nice.

First good beer after a nice break from alcohol. Solid double IPA not the best taste but very solid. Big fan of Heavy Seas Loose Cannons this was not disappointing but not exactly what I expected either.

substantial body and flavor to this well made dipa. a little slick with refreshing vibrant carbonation and a lively citrus hop character balanced nicely with a firm caramel malt. nice deep orange and a touch of sweetness to a long bitter finish. very nice.

Butters (3013) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 31, 2010
On sampler at the brewery. Clear yellow with light gold tinges and some white head. Nose is a sweet woodsy hop. Flavor has some alcohol warmth as it goes down, and it tastes a little resinous pine. Preety good, but not as good as hiphopapotomus from star hill

Growler courtesy of dkachur from the brewpub on 09/12/2009. Cloudy orange body with a medium frothy off-white head. Huge citrus aroma, lots of grapefruit. Sweet grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor, with a nice caramel background. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Braudog (4606) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - DEC 13, 2009
Draft at County Grill. Lighter than anticipated and absent the expected DIPA whopper of an aroma. But this delivers a decent visuous kick and piney drnk, so kudos enough. (#3768, 12/13/2009)

Draft: Pine needle and caramel nose. Clear amber, medium off-white head, good lacing. Pine needle and maraschino cherries. Chewy mouthfeel, moldy peach finish. Intense hop flavor, but missing something.

Draught, #500. Yellow pour. Well balanced flavor, not too big for the high alcohol, also well hidden alcohol.

Serving: Draft. Appearance: Clear gold color with a solid, pillowy, white head. Great head retention. Aroma: Light nose with notes of grain, floral notes, and grassy hops. Flavor: Fusel alcohol is the first note followed by grain, a fruity character and an acridic bitterness that doesn’t really seem in sync. This one is a bit rough around the edges. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-long, acridic finish. Overall: I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid on this one. I think it is on the raw and unbalanced side.
