COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is one of those wild experimental brews our guys tend to whip up after drinking a little too much Dark Hollow. It is our Chocolate Belgian Porter aged in bourbon barrels that held Dark Hollow for 10 months, and we added 60# of bing cherries to each barrel during the aging. Notes of the Peruvian cacao nibs from the original beer meld with the burnt vanilla and bourbon flavors of the barrels and bring out the underlying malt complexity and fruitiness of the Belgian yeast. A rare treat! 20 IBUs, 7.0% alc/vol.

Growler pours courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours darkness with tall light mocha head. Very nice looking beer. The aroma is bourbon, oaky wood notes, oaky spiciness, chocolate, black licorice and a touch of yeasty spiciness. The taste is a bit on the bright side with punchy spicy oak moving into bourbon, black licorice, yeasty spices and then growing chocolate notes. Into the finish a mild amount of spicy yeast makes it to the surface.

Served on draft (NOT nitro, thankfully) at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a medium creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of bourbon, cherries, lightly roasted malts and faint chocolate notes. The taste is roasted malts, cherries, a nice mellow bourbon note, chocolate and a tart finish. Smooth, medium bodied. Nice beer.
