bierkoning (4933), La Tropica, Netherlands Jun 2, 2008 Corked bottle from dkachur, batch #2, thanks! Almost black and opague. Oak, bourbon and dark chocolate in teh not too abundant aroma. Chocolate, whisky, coffee and raisin in the somewhat alcoholic flavor. Well rounded and well balanced delicious imperial stout. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 25, 2008 Batch #2 bottle: Pours a viscous opaque with a stringy-lacing dark tan head. Sweet dark caramel and chocolate nose has good complex vanilla and oaky bourbon character with great balance. Body starts fairly full and sweet with a nice sticky dark caramel flavor along with some slightly warming oaky bourbon. Pretty smooth and enjoyable. A nice barrel-aged imperial stout, but could be a little fuller. The_Beer_God (2857), Newport News, Virginia, USA Apr 26, 2008 Bottle courtesy of dkachur. Thanks Dan! Batch #2. Corked and caged. Black bodied with a brown head. Nose is vanilla, wood, cocoa/powdered chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is malty, chocolaty, bourbon, soft wood and vanilla. Very creamy feel. Medium overall. Ends with more bourbon, vanilla, wood, chocolate and roasted malts. I need more of this! Dogbrick (2266), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 3, 2008 Sample at the Day Before Labor Day party. This beer is nearly black with a medium light brown head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, charred malt and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with a rich bourbon and oak character, and flavors of chocolate malt, yeast and spices. The finish is chocolatey with some spiced alcohol left behind. Good all around.
