This liquid is the alpha and the omega; you need nothing else. Our flagship imperial stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels with African cacao nibs and locally roasted coffee. Dark, bitter cocoa blends with sweet malt; robust coffee mellows in the presence of oak-imparted vanilla and bourbon flavors. Enjoy this one at the end of a fine meal with good friends.

"Intriguing. So apparently there is a regular old barrel aged version of this beer, and then this - with the extra aging on coffee and cocoa nibs. I’d love to have them side by side. This beer was a little on the thin side, but so very smooth, the slight thinness (thinosity) being its only fault. Pretty well balanced and decadent. I’d say the coffee comes out more, and the barrels and chocolate share the rest. Liked it from start to finish. Fairly likely to be bumped up to a 4.4 if/when i get to revisit this. This is the type of barreled stout that would win over those who think most BA beers are too barrel prevelant (and some definitely are, but not this baby)."

Bottle@Craft Clerkenwell (RBESG 10/08/2014) - black coloured pour with tan head. Roasted malty aroma and taste, lots of chocolate, caramel, treacle, coffee, dark fruits, wooden oak infused bourbon nuances on the palate. Lovely drop.

Bottle at RBESG ’14, day 4 not so grand tasting at Craft Clerko, 10/08/14. Pitch black with a dirty tan swirl and edgework. Nose carries a big coffee blast, java, roast, earthy cocoa rub. Taste comprises spice, light caramel, rich chocolate, roast coffee. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with roasty tones in the close and a little chilli heat. Solid coffee lead impy - me likey!

750ml cork and caged bottle from Spirits Brick. Poured a pitch black solid body midnight black with jsut a slightly foamy deep beige head, so close to a 5 but just a bit too foamy. Aroma is one of the weaker points of this beer, and it’s not bad at all, notes of vanilla. dark melted chocolate, light bourbon, wet wood, rum cake. Body is good, carbonation is just a tad high for a BA beer, long long lingering flavor, fuller mouthfeel. Flavor is the best part of this beer. Notes of chocolate pudding, vanilla extract, wet wood, light bourbon, super slight hint of over ripe banana, burnt toast. Good beer wish I sat on it awhile though.

Bottle picked up at La Atlantica, Satiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain June 2014. Consumed at Cropredy ’Fairports Annual Reunion’ Festival, Cropredy, Oxon, Saturday 8th August 2014 Really smooth the bourbon being particularly well integrated here but there is also a decent level of hoppiness. Indulgent beer with a warming silky smooth chocolateyness and a coffee edge throughout. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.1

Bottle thanks to the cad at RBESG 2014. It pours near black with a dense tan head. The nose is roasted malt, rich coffee, mild acidity, dark chocolate, wood and dirt. The taste is bitter roast, earth, coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol heat, slick, wood, rocky road and earth with a dry cocoa finish. Fullish body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Decent.
