COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This liquid is the alpha and the omega; you need nothing else. Our flagship imperial stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels with African cacao nibs and locally roasted coffee. Dark, bitter cocoa blends with sweet malt; robust coffee mellows in the presence of oak-imparted vanilla and bourbon flavors. Enjoy this one at the end of a fine meal with good friends.

Bottle. Bottle. Opaque black body, creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and cream. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/oily texture, soft carbonation. Taste cocoa, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Cloyingly sweet perhaps because of its age, but this should have held up better.

75cl bottle @ the Fourth Shrewsbury Bottle Share, courtesy of Simon. The finale to a great evening of various, and at times bizarre, styles of beer. A beautifully complex and constantly evolving taste with bitter dark chocolate, burnt caramel and roasted elements.. an enticing, sultry blend. Just wish there was more to delve into.

Review according to BJCP2008 guidelines (style 13F). AROMA: very complex cocoa, coffe and bourbon barrel aromas. medium alcohol aroma. no hop aromas. APPEARANCE: opaque jet black with a very tanned head. medium head retention. TASTE: complex flavour with cocoa very present, slight dried grapes flavour, coffe and bourbon. medium hop flavour that lingers towards the end accompanied with rostiness, bitterness and slight warming character. balanced malt flavour with medium-high bitterness. PALATE: very-full body with a velvety texture. gentle warmth from alcohol. medium carbonation. OVERALL: a very complex, special, imperial stout with a plethora of flavours, maybe a bit sweet from the added cocoa but nonetheless highly recommended.

Bottle thanks to some drunk guy at World of Beer who opened it up on accident. Poured a decent black color. Not a lot of head. No smell at all really. Taste was thin, very dry. coffee and chocolate didn’t seem to mix well. Just wasn’t impressed at all. Don’t know if the bottle was old or just a bad bottle but I wouldn’t drink it again.

Bottle... Dark brown pour with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The nose is a marriage of campfire smoke and crisp, crusty brownies. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor offers plenty of bitterness, but also plenty of chocolaty, roasty sweetness. Finishes a touch tangy, scorched and bittersweet. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!
