750ml bottle picked up at Beer Run for $11.49, shared at a bottleshare. Medium / bigger body. Light smooth carbonation. Dark brown color. Little tan head. Dots of lace everywhere. Nice oaky wood, very light vanilla. Some chocolate, roast malts. Hint of coffee. Nice roast aftertaste. Light bitter taste, some sweet. Hint of alcohol. Decent imperial stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft pour from the Federal in Durham. The bartender was kind enough to split a pint in two for my wife and I after dinner. Poured dark brown, nearly black with a thin tan head. Nose is sweet and bourbon-y: vanilla, oak, and light fruit. Chocolate malts. Not the darkest, maltiest stout by any means, and the whiskey barrels dominate. Good if that’s your thing. I found it a bit sweet and less complex than I desired.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aromas of chocolate, cherries, smoky tar, and coffee. Black with a quickly diminishing, tan head. Some sweetness with perceptible strength, and well balanced bitterness. Full bodied, creamy, and sticky, carbonation is low, and finishes showcasing a strong and well balanced character.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours black with dissipating khaki head. Aroma is bourbon and chocolate. Flavor is dominated by the same. Coffee note does make an appearance though. Not bad but nothing special.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smooth, this beer has echoes of a heavier, maltier beer than what it really is. It’s addictive in the fact that it’s so easy drinking and unoffensive to the point that you just can’t stop drinking it. It’s grainy, bleeding with bourbon flavors, and I honestly think that the feel of this beer is made up more of its barrel aging effects that it seems like a heavier beer than it is. Not so heavy on roasted malts, it’s very easy to drink and still complex enough to impress your socks off. Modest, but awesome.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Andy! Pours black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong roasted malt note with some bitter chocolate a hint of coffee and a bourbon backing. Flavor starts with dark grains that grow in roasted malts and has a boozy bourbon finish.
