COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Hollow blends the miracle of two crafts--brewing and distillation--to create a work greater than the sum of its parts. An Imperial Stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels still dripping with uncut whiskey. For 100 days the young beer patiently breathes in and out of the wood, gaining complexity, character, and serious attitude. This ale is always bottle conditioned and can be enjoyed immediately upon its release from the brewery...or five years later, when you dust off the last vintage bottle from your cellar to share with good company.

Nice brew had it on tap at Heaven’s Pizza at Buckroe Beach. Beautiful black or with a light brown head. Flavor is full and rich, but it flows off the palate well.

Bottle:   Black, thin to moderate sudsy dark beige head, spotty lacing.   Roasty nose, dark chocolate, not getting much bourbon.   A bit more noticeable on the tongue.   A little bit of charred wood, campfire, and ash.   Not on the heavy malt side, not overly bitter, but very smooth.   Really ashy I would say, with a soft bourbon/oak aspect.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes like new oak, soft bourbon, ashy, and charred wood.   Respectable Imperial Stout, but it doesn’t wow me like I hoped.   Thanks Kevin!

750ml bottle. Dark pour a nice head. Sweet aroma. Cloying sweet with a light bourbon presence. Nice to taste one or twice, but very sweet and difficult to handle in quantity.

Bottle split at Endo’s house, thanks to James (jtclockwork) for the trade, 26/05/13. Light black with a thin tan head. Nose is dark malt, chocolate, bourbon notes, dark fruits, woody tones, touch of booze. Taste comprises dark sugars, dark malts, light roast, chocolate, bourbon, molasses, toffee fudge. Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze and sugars quite evident in the finish. Ok stuff if a little over sweet but the bourbon is kept in check pretty well and doesn’t take over the beer.

Black pour with a thin beige head and very light lacing .... aroma of vanilla, bourbon, oak, coconut, roasted malts and dark chocolate ..... taste of bourbon, dry oak, vanilla, light coconut, caramel malts, little roasted malt, dark chocolate and bitter hops that linger into the finish ... abv hidden well ..... mouthfeel is a little slick and oily

Great beer. Pours a black color with slight cinnamon head. Nose of some chocolate and bourbon. On the taste, the oak comes through - as well as chocolate, with a slight touch of bourbon on the finish. Well made, really enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Corked and caged 375 ml bottle. Pours pitch black with a small brown head that fades quickly and collects at the edges. Grabs the glass very well. Aromas are charred wood, ash, whiskey, and light raisins. Pretty smooth taste, lots of charred wood, some cocoa, raisins, light whiskey. Flavors blend well together. Thick body and an oily, chalky mouthfeel. Smooth, whiskey and dark roast finish. Overall, pretty solid, would probably age well.

Bottle. Black, nearly opaque. Aaahh. Very enjoyable... You can definitely taste the wood barrel. Sweet, that awesome burnt taste. Easy drinker! Just sweet enough.

750ml bottle corked and caged, poured a black color with aromas of roast, chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon and some earth. Flavors are the same, light fudge and bourbon in the aftertaste. A very nice barrell aged beer.
