Pours a coffee brown with a thick tan head. Roast malt and coffee aroma has an overtone of bourbon-soaked wood. I’m going Pavlov! Flavor starts with dark alt and adds on roast coffee, bourbon, oak, horehound, molasses and caramel tones for a WOW! beer. Smooth and fizzy texture leaves a mouthgasm-inducing finish of bourbon-infused oak, roast malt and molasses. Come to the Dark Hollow side - we have great beer!

On tap at Whole Foods. Pours a dark brown/near black with light passing, casting red hues when backlit. Beige head settles to a thin to moderate head with sugary lacing. Aroma is bourbon, roasted malt, and baker’s chocolate. Flavor is bourbon upfront; surprisingly prominent. Coffee and chocolate notes follow, with a smoky complexity throughout. Silky thick mouthfeel, full bodied. Semi sweet chocolate finish. Worth seeking out.

Pour is black with a fairly tight tan head. Nose is lightly charred oak, rich chocolaty and caramel malt with a faint hint of marshmallow and a light acrid burnt aroma barely there. Taste is a bit more sweet. Malts are still very rich but then transition into some sugary sweetness. Barrel and char have a more muted presence up front, the acrid flavor isn’t really there. Body is a bit empty in the finish and lacks carbonation. Feel is soft and creamy but a touch slick.

Opaque and black; thinnish head. Sweet nose. Fatty, milkshake-like texture. Lots of char, tar, coffee and heavy cream flavors. Sweetness is overriding. Pleasant notes of coconut and vanilla.

Great beer, but this is what I like these days. Only the head was a little disappointing. Great ABV, caramel aroma and taste, like an after dinner drink.
