3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a large corked bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a viscous black color with the slightest dark brown hue to go with a large, creamy dark tan head with average retention, but excellent cling and phenomenal lacing. Its aroma featured toasty notes of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of chili, along with some modest caramel and a bit of grainy and earthy hops. Its taste was surprisingly bitter and grainy with an earthy character, and only had modest chocolate and caramel sweetness deep underneath. The mouthfeel was intense, wet, and filling, with ample carbonation and a thick, creamy feeling, and a noticeable presence of alcohol. The punch of the taste and palate was perhaps over-the-top.

Extra from someone...sorry! Translucent dark brown, minimal carbonation even with an aggressive pour. Some bourbon on the nose, oxidized malt, some burnt coffee. Taste is wet cardboard. Canít get past it. Would suspect cork taint, but cork is composite cork, not natural. Nose is not as strongly corked as taste, but not right.

A dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, nice bourbon barrel caramel malt with nice vanilla, dark fruits, very nice. In mouth, a smooth dark fruits malt with vanilla, licorice, alcohol burn, maple, light woody notes, what is this. On tap at Mugs Alehouse.

Tap at stags head. Pours jet black at least in this lighting. Nose of cocoa and coffee. Tastes of rich chocolate, some vanilla, coffee, malt, licorice, and ome leather. Bourbon is subdued and not too sweet despite being so chocolaty.

Bottle. Near black with a dark, tan head. Mild roasty malt and a little vanilla aroma. Smooth chocolate and creamy upfront but a boozy, sharp finish. A bit too carbonated for me.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Odense Beer & Ball Saturday - Parma vs. Bologna. Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate with weaker notes of bourbon and coffee beans, very nice. Sweet and dark malty flavour with chocolate, dried fruit, ash, soy sauce, alcohol and hops. Lacking harmony with both vineous character, sweetness and notable bitterness
