COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A new brew in honor of owners Taylor’s and Mandi’s new son, Evan (and with a winking nod to the Steve Carrell movie filmed around the corner in Crozet). This beer is in the style of a Dusseldorf "sticke altbier" - originating from the North Rhine-Westphalia area of Germany. It is the cousin to Cologne’s Kolschbier, in that they are both termed "obergärige" - top fermented - beers brewed in the alt ("old" or pre-lager beer) style. Alts range from deep gold to dark copper in color and have a firm, hoppy dryness to back up their malty undertones. We’ve created our alt on the deep gold color end of the spectrum, but in the "sticke" (secret) category, that signifies a higher-gravity beer that, in Dusseldorf, is brewed as a reward for local customers and is often not listed on the menu (thus the "secret" part). Evan Altmighty was brewed with Pilsner, Munich, and Caramel Munich malts and hopped with German Hallertau Tradition hops. The same cologne-based strain of ale yeast for fermentation provides light fruit and bready notes and aids in the prolonged cold aging of this ale often treated like a lager after primary fermentation. 30 IBUs, 6.6% ABV.

Pours a rich orange/copper, topped with a nice white head. The aroma is a blend of grassy/graininess. Taste - the general sweet caramel is balanced nicely with a crisp bitterness. Very drinkable.

Clear copper, small off-white head. Nose is caramel, hoppy-fruity-toasty notes, some raisins. Flavor is herbal notes with fruity hops, raisins, a decent smooth hoppy and caramelly finish. Lingering hops. Pretty nice.

Drank from a twelve ounce bottle, thank you Bjorn! Has a nice sweet, dark malt aroma. Taste lightly sweet and complex, a bit watered down, but a wonderful light hop finish.

Small beige head. Clear deep dark red body with light carbonation. Fruity malty caramel aroma with nutty dusty raisiny notes. Sweet-dryish malty caramelly nutty taste with raisiny perfumy notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft, faintly slick mouthfeel. Dryish syrupy toffee and caramel aftertaste with raisiny perfumy notes. Fine bitter edge lingers. Very nice and full-flavoured. cloudy orange, smooth large offwhite head. very malty aroma, toasted malts, rye bread or wholegrain bread, very faint fruity note. quite special. sweet malty, caramelly, bready, loads of sweet unroasted malts, quite some bitterness to match, but very european bitterness. also tastes a bit like an aged beer, although it is not. well brewed, interesting, but also a flavor that i don’t particularily like.

$2 in a bottle from vintage. Looks quite thick in the pour. Darker pale thing with slight haze. Very mild volatile cloying sweet perfume aroma. Big alky, fruit laced tongue. Yes, a big alt fer sure. Barely any co2 but whatever is there kindah cuts with each swig. Alky soaked fruit wants to appear but doesn’t. Finish is almost cough medicine dull numbing thud.
