3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 AZBennett (112) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - MAY 29, 2013
Pours a lovely deep, dark amber with a lively white head that fades fast. Aromas are caramel, biscuit, clove, raisin, coriander, and other spices. Flavors are very spice forward with a melange of the usual abbey spices, then some bread and caramel malts and finally a tangy dark fruit aftertaste with a slight back of the tongue tartness. Palate is a little thin and not quite as carbonated as expected. Overall, this is above average for an Abbey Dubbel in a 12 oz bottle, but there are others that are quite easy to find.
