2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz can - thanks to Blutt59
Decent amount of fresh pine aroma - smells better than it tastes. Nothing really stands up, the bitterness, citrus, and pine flavors are all there - just not enough of them.

64 oz growler
Thanks to Santa for sending this surprise at the bottom of a well packaged present. Knowing the lifespan of an IPA in this form I had someone over to share it. I’m glad as otherwise some would have gone to waste. A beer this good is too amazing to sit overnight and oxidize. I hadn’t heard of Blue Mountain before but this puts it on the map for me.
Aroma / Appearance - Highly carbonated and sparkling the bronze body and vanilla creamy head like the topping on a frosted cookie. Pine, spruce, and maple sweeten the air like a spring sunrise. It almost smells like a woodshop after a hard day’s work.
Flavor / Palate - Maple syrup, pine, and then a smooth bitter aftertaste warms the throat. There’s not much depth but I was not expecting too much. I could see putting down a pint or two of this at lunch. It wouldn’t be completely impossible to finish a growler but the sheer volume would be overwhelming. Just thinking about this beer makes me want to figure out how to get more.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
6 pack from whole foods... blistery burnt amber color.. quickly dissipating head... good stout smell wth a pungent hop, pine soaked scent.. Very excited to try this but like rudolph without a red nose, its just missing something.. the IBU’s are there but unlike my favorite cali IPA’s the staying power is lacking and the bitterness and pine infused flavor give way quickly and there isnt much on the backend.. Its brisk , its respectable but its leavin the bar with the cute chick rather than the hot one who likes a little more umph in her ale.... Overall solid though...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
sampled after their great dipa and perhaps the reason why i found it more malty in the flavor and less developed for the lesser hop character. darker amber golden orange brew it seemed more spicy with a touch of fruit in the good malt flavor. nice light astringency to the mouthfeel.

A solid pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces a three finger thick, pale tan colored head that has some staying power. The beer is a nicely red tinged copper-amber hue that shows a brilliantly clear, bright copper color when held up to the light. The aroma smells of grapefruit zest scented with pine oil, sweet caramelized malt, toasted grain and a caramelized biscuit malt character. The hop and malt aromatics are fairly balanced here, though the hop citrus is definitely playing the leading role.
A nice biting hop character up front is thick with grapefruit and lychee, while the finish gets herbal, with pine notes along for the ride and a biting, rough’ish bitterness that lingers on in the long finish. This has a medium-light body to it that is thickened by crystal malt character; this is not overly heavy though and is certainly a quaffable beer. The hop character is a bit more aggressive in the flavor than it was in the aroma. A touch of cracker like grain and pale-toasted malt character adds some light spicing towards the finish of each sip
This is a nicely hoppy pale ale, it has a bit more crystal malt character than I might prefer, but that is perfectly in line with many American versions of the style. This will certainly help those in need of a hop fix and I always enjoy tasty beer coming from a can.

Draught. Copper with a white head. Aroma is citrus and spice...mostly pepper. Flavor is similar with less citrus and more pepper and general spice. Easy but good.
