Reviewed 12/21/2012. 12 oz can poured into a pint glass. A: Pours a reddish copper color with top notch clarity for the style. This features one of the best heads Iíve ever seen on a pale ale - three fingers high, with an offwhite shade. The retention level and fluffy texture is quite excellent, and so is the lacing left behind on the glass. S: Tons of bready, caramel malts, grapefruit, and floral notes on the aroma. This one really reeks of Centennial hops, even though this seems to be primarily a Cascade-hopped ale. T: Itís a rather typical pale ale, with citrusy, lemongrass hop flavors backing up a clean malt undercurrent. The malts also seem to develop a nutty, earthy tone after a while, balanced by the hops. No extreme flavors here, just a simple, easy to drink pale ale. M: Very clean and dry on the finish and aftertaste. Has that crisp, refreshing texture that would make it great on a hot day, only with a body that could stand to be less flabby. O: It is what it is - a well crafted, basic pale ale in a can. Really, itís just another SNPA clone, but that just means SNPA is such a great beer to ape. Damnit, I need to buy more canned craft beers ASAP!

Can. Nose is doughy and spicy, pine with light citrus. Amber pour, maybe a little orange, with a large and tight beige head. Dull/flattish medium body, even watery at times, off-dry with mostly caramel and wood, a little toffee and earth, not much citrus. Still, alive and fresh and clean, an easy one to down without much thought.

Drank from a frosty pint poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours a nice orange amber and very little carbonation. It has good flavor but not a fan of the finish.

amber color; citrusy, garpefruit hop aroma; a great, well-balanced citrusy hoppy American style pale ale; nice, citrusy hop flavor on a medium bodied bready malt base with mild caramel notes

Basic ale. Thick lace. Smells better and looks better than it tastes. A bit sour but freshly tapped.Capital ale house Harrisonburg.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a slightly hazy orange with a somewhat pervasive red here and there. One finger white foamy head dissipated within about a minute. The smell was slightly earthy sweet with a slight pine to citrus back up here and there. The taste was mainly sweet but allowed a decent bitterness to balance. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there but was fairly subdued. Overall, I say this was a good American Pale ale worthy of having again.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 10/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest, caramel, toasted bread, floral, grass, slight pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest, caramel, toasted bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, floral, grass, caramel, toasted bread, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of juicy citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pale ale. All around good balance and complexity of juicy citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2014 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, 2014 release.
Aroma: very little aroma, hints of resin and citrus.
Appearance: almost clear, dark amber with small off-white head and little lacing.
Taste: citrus, earthy tones, grass.
Palate: smooth, little carbonation with a long bitter finish.
Overall: IMO, too hoppy for an APA. Tastes more like an IPA to me. Wouldnít buy again.

Been going down the list of Blue Mountain when i see them and the pale ale was rather normal. Good and easy drinking but nothing that i would stock as a go to APA.

Pours an appetizing clear amber with a thick pale buff head. Malty aroma has a nice hoppy tone and a hint of grapefruit. Flavor is hoppier and has more grapefruit, sour and bitter and satisfying. Firm texture has lively fizz and a nice hoppy finish. Grab one.
