A strong version of the classic English style ale. A full bodied chocolate and toffee malt flavor dominate this heady brew, with a gentle roastiness rounding out the finish. 40 IBU, 6.5%

Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, and some floral hops. Very dark red with a fully lasting, tan head. Some sweet, chocolatey, toffee-like, nutty flavors, and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with low carbonation, and lingering chocolatey flavors after the finish.

At the brewpub served as Original Nitro Porter. Very dark clear brown pour with good creamy tan persistent head. Subtle cocoa and cracker notes and lots of roastiness on the nose. Flavor is surprisingly sweet and with earthy, leather, milky chocolate tones. Big velvety mouthfeel. And despite all those good aspects, I still didn’t care for it all that much. But objectively, it was a pretty good beer.

From the tap came a dark brown brew with a thick, lucious, nitro, light brown head. Aromas of malt, chocolate, with hints of vanilla. Medium full bodied with flavors of earthy malt, chocolate, hints of vanilla and honey with a earthy hop finish.

Draft at the brewpub on 1/19/2013. Poured a dark color, black with some dark notes around the edges. Aroma was some chocolate with some light coffee notes. Some mild bitter character, though plenty of sweet. Pretty enjoyable.

Radio. Very dark with creamy tan head and lots of lacing. Smells like chocolat and roasted coffee beans, and maybe a hint of cherry. Tastes chocolaty with some dry hip at the end. Light creamy mouth feel and dry finish.

Aroma: the nose has lots of roasted malts, some dark chocolate, and caramel as well
Appearance: This beer has a dark brown pour with a small head and basically no lace
Flavor: The flavor is pretty toasty as well, it is a little sweet, and has a mild bitterness
Palate: This one has a smooth feel, medium bodied, and it finishes soft and creamy
Overall Impression:  Really solid example of a porter. It seemed to be rather popular amongst our group, and I was no exception, I really enjoyed it.

Black brown pour with frothy tan head and lace. Medium coffee and nice hints of chocolate aroma. Milk chocolate, light coffee, nice malt/hops bitter, nice sweet finish. Nitro body and carbonation make for a smooth full bodied drink. Pretty nice.

Nitro pint at the brewpub. It was nice and creamy, black as you’d expect, and lightly bittered. Quite a nice quaffable porter for a cold fall day. (#3487, 11/2008)

Pretty much black... very dark with the creamy head that nitro creates. Almost sandy, but closer to off-white Nice, slightly subdued chocolate aromas. Toasted malts, almost something of a nut ’n butter scent? Roasted malts, a stronger dominating chcolate flavour than noted in the aroma. Finishes quite nice, leaving a toasty, slightly bitter taste behind. Quite full bodied and rich... thicker than the style sometimes comes, but again, some of that is a result of the nitrotap. Eventually, the 6.9% is gonna catch up, but until that time, it’s smooth sailing. Nice drinking, big flavour. Something to come out for again, and well worth trying out.
