A light German-style ale indigenous to Koln (Cologne). This ale is treated like a lager, undergoing extensive cold aging to produce a clean, crisp beer. All imported Muessdoerffer Pilsen and Munich malts and hops from the Hallertau region lend a balanced flavor to this ale.

12 oz can into a pint glass. A: Pours a pale yellow color. The head is a one finger white shade with a great fluffiness and even some decent retention for the style. There are also some decent rings of lacing left behind. S: The first thing I note is some pleasant cereal grains meshing with a pale malt sweetness redolent of sugar cookie. There are also some lemony hints here and there. Not bad by any means, but I wished it were a bit hoppier and fruitier. T: The flavor works better, I think. It starts of with some sweet lemony touches, while the finish brings grainy touches. These aforementioned grainy touches work well, I must say. After a while, a twinge of herbal bitterness makes itself known. While it’s simplistic, this isn’t some 14% bourbon barrel aged monster brewed with coconut, coffee, the tears of Jesus, kombucha, green goddess dressing, and some old Dark Angel cassette tapes. Just like with the nose, it could use a touch more hop bitterness and fruit esters, but there’s nothing wrong here, either. M: It’s a bit sweet on the finish for me - this would be hella refreshing on a hot day regardless. It has a light texture and goes down quite easily without ridiculous carbonation, and that’s what I like from the style. O: I could definitely see this being a rock-solid refresher on a warm day. There isn’t much place for this beer in my fridge right now; but give me a couple friends, 100 degree weather, and outdoor work, and I guarantee a case of this will get killed faster than you can say "gimme that wheelbarrow, ya jackass."

On tap at the brewery 10/3/15. Taste is overwhelmingly grassy. Quite bland and basic. Nothing to write home about here.

Can at Symon, Dulles. Light clear body. Sweeti and spunky nose. Taste is grainy, sweet. Pretty casual and enjoyable.

Can. Pours a clear straw yellow body with a minimal fizzy white head that ran to a thin ring. The nose is lightly fruity with a bit of a light lemon note over a crackery and bready maltiness. Very minimal hop aroma. The flavor is fairly clean and soft with a bready maltiness up front. Finishes with a light snap of bitterness. Rather easy drinking and simple, like the style is meant to be. Light bodied and soft on the tongue with gentle carbonation. Not bad stuff, better than many attempts at the style.

bottle @ Beer Run / Charlottesville VA --- Clear medium amber color, solid white head cover, sheets of lace. Taste is mild caramel malt with a little grassy earth mixed in that adds crisp carbonation on the swallow before moving to a smooth, lightly hopped finish. Unassuming, but very easy to drink.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a puffy white head. Notes of earth, bread, faint citrus, and some grass. Pretty basic and finishes flat.

Kolsch brewed to style. Blue Mountain keeps it traditional delivering a medium yellow larger sporting a 1.5 finger white head. Aroma show light biscuity malt, a bit of spiciness from the yeast, and some gentle fruity notes. The flavors are much the same. You could chug this and be quite pleased with yourself. Its not going to excite, but its a good lawnmower beer, and a decent pairing for food.

Bright clear golden pour with a thin ring of white head. The aroma has a hint of yeast and some apple. Clean and crisp. A slight graininess, yet mild balanced and easy to drink. Nice.

Can - Clean taste, malt tanginess. A light flavor with no character. Reminds me of a mass market beer in a way.

Easy drinking but not a lot going on here. Some barley, light German hops. Clear amber pour without much head and lacing. Pitcher at the hockey game material. Can.
