A light German-style ale indigenous to Koln (Cologne). This ale is treated like a lager, undergoing extensive cold aging to produce a clean, crisp beer. All imported Muessdoerffer Pilsen and Munich malts and hops from the Hallertau region lend a balanced flavor to this ale.

Light strawberry, bread, and floral aromas. Clear gold with a moderately lasting, white head. Dry, fruity, and lightly bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation, and a short, clean, somewhat fruity finish.

Can - Clean taste, malt tanginess. A light flavor with no character. Reminds me of a mass market beer in a way.

Easy drinking but not a lot going on here. Some barley, light German hops. Clear amber pour without much head and lacing. Pitcher at the hockey game material. Can.

On tap at Blue Mountain. Nice color, great head. I’m usually not a Kolsch fan, but I kinda liked this. It went great with the cheese plate. Not a beer with a lot of character but this was a nicely made clean Kolsch, which is not the easiest thing to accomplish.

Lightly sweet aroma, with a hint of apples. Pours a clear light straw with a thin white head. Light grain flavor, with a little sweetness in it. Light bodied and easy drinking, seems to be missing something to compete with some of the traditional kolsches.

Tap @ Blue Mountain. I pretty much don’t like this style in general, so grain of salt. Straw color with minimal head and no lacing. Soured grain and citric angel worth a hint of sweet cereal. Light flavors leaving to the sweeter side of things.

Out of a can I first think of jaguar ice. Then it starts to morph into something better. Yea, getting more used to this. Seems to have much more than 5% in alky, big personality. By the end of the session I’m starting to think ruder pale lager.

Where and how: bottle 355ml
Aroma sweet front with softer slight floral vibe. Backed by sweet malty notes. Nice, but it could be drier.
Appearance :
Top: bright white mid sized cap
Base: deep golden.
Palate : nice soft body, milder carbonation.
Taste: golden malts a bit like Helles. Nice milder yet noticeable herbal green hops. Good malt depth. Nice Noble hop feel to it.
Other notes maybe tad too soft for Kolsch yet still solid nice brew.

Canned, best by 03 2014 -- oops on me! Kudos for proper naming convention (-"style"). Nose light pils malt, touch of faint citrus and grass. Pours bright but lightly hazy yellow-golden, slow below-avg carb with a lacing and rocky bright white head. Taste sweet with light woody-caramel undercurrent, lightly bitter with a bready thread throughout, but the main body is more floral and noble hop grass/perfume. Cleanish (the aftertaste doesn’t entice a ringing endorsement), crisp, repeatable medium body. Happy with this, even happier that it’s held up so well beyond its BB date -- is there hope in cans for delicate styles like Kölsch?
