3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 radagast83 (3098) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - NOV 18, 2012Had this at Caliente in Richmond VA, right before cracking into their "famed" "Stupid Wings" - horrible decision by the way - I like punishing myself but not that much. Anyway, I picked up this brew - came with a orange-light brown color with a small white head. Aroma was light honey notes, sweet malts. Flavor was grainy malts, somw sweet notes. Alcohol is really present in this one.

Bottle @ home. Pours clear dark amber with a small, frothy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is perfume alcohol with toast and cookie malt, spicy hops and light caramel notes. Flavor is sweet malt dominant with spicy hops and light bitterness, some melanoidin dark fruits with a sweet finish. Full body, medium-light carbonation, medium alcohol warmth with no astringency or creaminess.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FalconsFever (37) - Smyrna, Georgia, USA - MAR 13, 2013
My parents got this bomber for me directly from the brewery. Caramel color, sweet smell, and tastes exactly like that. A little too sweet for me and a touch flat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a very viscous soft copper amber with two fingers of sticky khaki tan head. Nose is extremely rich and dextrinous with some spicy alcohol and hops. Super dense and bready malt profile in the flavor. Extremely rich and full bodied with an intense biscuity/bready malt character and spicy hops. Very intense palate. Tough to drink.

Thin pour, very little carbonation, light in color. Aromas are caramel and toffee, honey and a bit of vanilla. Palate is fleeting and slick. I want more richness and depth from a doppel. Lots of caramel, hay and vanilla cake on the finish. Lightly hopped.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Bottle, caged and corked. Crystal-clear amber pour, just a fizzle of a head. There’s little to no aroma here. But the beer drinks with a nice viscous character, and a smooth high gravity burn, like warmed honey. Malty and almost lagery on the surface, this carries a bock-like kick in the middle. Sip it. Tap at Granville Moores thanks to brainlair. Clear orange amber. No head. Very sweet cloying cherry juice box nose. Taste is sugary juice box, odd bitterness, still cloying. Syrupy to near medicinal. A bit salty and sweaty.
