A French/Belgian-inspired ale of epic proportions. Deep blonde color, spicy nose, rich mouthfeel, and a kiss of French and American hop character. 9% abv.

NOTE: All Barrel House versions (bottled and draft) should go here. The versions of Mandolin from 2011 and earlier should go under the appropriate style entry.

Bottle at CBC Clerkenwell share thanks to Bruce. Pours clear amber with a small beige head. Nose is resinous and sweet with herbal hoppage, light tropical fruit and big toffee. Mango focus here. Taste is very leafy and zesty under the massive sticky sweet toffee. Touch of spice and loads of biscuit. Very green. A decent shout for the style

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - many thanks to Bruce for this one. Pours lightly hazy, bright gold with a creamy white head. Ripe fruits in the nose, marmalade, sticky malt sugars. Medium sweet flavor with tangy orange, liquified fruits, dry orange, tangy berries. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Oddly tangy finish, moderately dry, pretty sweet, with lightly leathery fruits, tannins, citrus. OK.

Near clear golden pour with good layer of white head. Big boozy beer. Sweet notes of pear of honeydew and lavendar. Belgian semi-funky yeast. Bready. Old and musty. Woody and a little vinous as well. Don’t think I actually like it all that much.

Poured an amberish color from the bottle with aromas of wood, zest, light citrus and some vinegar. Flavors follow suit, light caramel thrown in as well, interesting beer, just not my style.
