COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
By popular demand, our summertime seasonal is no longer filtered and has been permanently converted to a full-blown Bavarian-style Hefeweizen! A unique strain of yeast produces banana-like ester flavors up front and phenolic clove, spicy notes in the background. Brewed with half barley malt and half white wheat malt and hopped with Hallertau Mittelfruh hops.

From a bottle. Pours cloudy light brown. medium body and low carbonation. Very smooth, tastes like banana and spices. Smells slightly spicy.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark gold with thick, frothy off-white head; decent retention and some lacing. Aroma is banana, cloves, dough and cereal malts, floral notes, and wheat. Flavor is bready malts forward with a touch of sweetness and supporting light fruit esters, faint hops, and some herbs; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

This is a weizen! Beautiful golden poor with a nice white head that leaves a substantial amount of lacing. The aroma is light & quite subtle. The taste consists of soft fruit notes primarily banana. The body is creamy & the beer is excellently balanced! Easily 1 of the best hefeweizen’s I’ve ever tried!

.75l big bottle. Cloudy yellow otange white head. Decent enough esters and banana but something off about this - watery and not right. Oh and the cork said best by march 2013. Really useful....after you bought and opened already.

750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Fuck, even at $6 I feel offended. Rotted tangerines and a metallic note in the nose, very difficult going. Faded malts are the BEST part of this beer. Train wreck.

750ml bottle in a weizen glass. Pours golden with an off-white head. Aroma of wheat, hints of banana, some light spices, bread, and floral hops. Flavor the same, with hints of the pale lager taste. Average texture. A decent wheat beer, but something is just slightly off.

Split a 750ml Barrel House label bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with a light, mostly white head. aroma was wheat, some clove and spice notes, a touch of banana. Flavor was some spice, banana, cloves, and plenty of wheat. Decent.

Bottle, 750ml Barrel House label. Warmly yellow-orange and fizzy, with a soapy head. There’s a sweet, yeasty aroma. This drinks with an easy-going citrus character, a bit lemony, with just a tingle of wheatiness. An American interpretation. (#4865, 12/23/2012)

750ml bottle, Barrel House series: Pours a cloudy golden with a pillowy froth of clingy white head. Has a sweet bready wheat and banana nose with a touch of lemon citrus. Body starts with good fullness and appropriate carbonation with a soft malty sweetness and good clove spice with some light fruity esters and lemon zest. Finished smooth and true to style. An authentic, enjoyable and well-made hefeweizen. If this were available in 6-packs I’d drink it all the time, but when a 750ml bottle costs 1.5 times as much as a 6-pack of German-made hefeweizen, it’s hard to justify drinking this more than once.

(barrel house bottle) Clear orange body with a constant stream of bubbles, and a medium-big soft white head. Aroma of bread, grain, yeast, light fruit, slight mustiness. Light to medium body, carbonation. Flavor of bread, grains, light yeast. Finishes a little watery.
