COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boo! Has there ever been a better feeling then when you were a kid spiriting around the neighborhood in a white sheet with a bucket of candy bars? No, not really. But we figured if we loaded up an Imperial pumpkin ale with natural chocolate flavor from cocoa nibs and stick it in a bourbon barrel for a few months it might come pretty close.

Nice murky orange amber color when poured. Very full flavor without tasting too "thick". Dark chocolate undertones are a nice aftertaste. Wife liked it.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, faint vanilla, and faint oak. Flavor is vanilla and pumpkin sweetness mellowed out by the chocolate, light hop bitterness, and faint spice mix; dry, oaky finish with a touch o lingering sweetness. Medium/full body and medium carbonation.

Bottle from Wine Works split with some Magic nerds. Aroma is vanilla, oak, and pumpkin spice. Pours hazy brown-orange with a huge fluffy frothy head. Taste is oak oak oak oak and pumpkin spice. The barrel translated none of the sweet delicious bourbon and all of its dry vanilla/wood oakness. Couldn’t finish the glass. This was very poorly executed.

Orangey syrupy brown pour. Cinnamon, pumpkin, vanilla aroma. Similar taste. Bourbon, etc. Pretty decent but a bit too sweet IMO

750mL bottle, pours a dark orangey amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out cocoa nibs, very light pumpkin and some bourbon. Flavour is robust, with bourbon and vanilla notes, along with cocoa. Not really getting any pumpkin notes. This is mostly cocoa and bourbon, but it has a very light body. Not bad, but not overly interesting.

Cloudy light brown with an off-white head. Aroma is raisins, spices, honey, maple, dates, brown sugar. Medium bodied, sweet on the palate, spiced finish. Taste is bourbon, dates, chocolate, brown sugar, hint of pumpkin spices and wood. Nice.

$11.29 bomber, Wine Warehouse. Pop the cork and it comes spilling out. Uhoh. Pours a hazy brown-amber with a huge frothy beige head. Smells of apple spice, crust, and pumpkin. Taste is smooth pumpkin, apple spice... more appley than pumpkiny.

Decent brew. Pours orange - brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is sweet candy, almost like a Belgian. Rather smooth, more of a sweet pumpkin beer with more Belgian style notes. Finishes sweet; maybe should have let it age a bit?

Nice and full bodied. The bourbon barrel does not overpower the beer. Perfect for a cool night. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Best by November 2015.
Glass: Firestone Walker reserve tulip.
Appearance: Clear copper body with a head that arises with gusto. Dense and tan with good retention the head hides the body beneath.
Aroma: The aroma leans barrel heavy; coconut, bourbon and oak are noticed primarily. A dash of bitter bakers cocoa is noticed. Overall the aroma is mild and barrel prominent.
Taste: The flavor is rich and palate filling. Hints of bourbon and oak mingle with a mild malt base. The mid-taste add hints of coconut and a moderately thin flavored mid-taste. The finish adds cocoa balanced with sweet malts and light bourbon. The finish is nice, as is the intro, but I find the mid-taste lacking. The finish is soft and has a lingering vanilla presence.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: If they were to beef up the malt base then I think this would be a homerun. As it is I find it hard to recommend, but the bottle is great so there’s that.

750ml shared. Poured murky dark orange color with a white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma was bourbon and vanilla, mild spice notes as well. Flavor is primarily bourbon and vanilla notes underlined with the pumpkin pie spices. Followed by the cocoa nibs. Very well balanced and flavorful. Worthy of a second bottle.
