COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The music of The Steel Wheels and the beer from Blue Mountain are both original and handcrafted, with inspired Americana flavors from the heart of Virginia. Our collaboration E.S.B. draws from the past with British crystal malts and Scottish yeast, but uses American hops to put our own stamp on the creation. Like this beer, The Steel Wheels draw you in from the first sip...not because their music is loud or in your face, but because it’s surprising and original, and because its inspirations - a story, a character, a memory - have been brewed with just the right ingredients. Take time to drink slowly and listen truly. Wherever you are, get ready to sing along, to harmonize. Maybe even get up and dance.

Hear The Steel Wheels at www.thesteelwheels.com, or meet them soon at a show to hear the music as they love to share it: live, kickin’ and real.

Pours a dirty dark brown with a big fluffy beige head and great retention. Aroma is apple sweetness and caramel malts. Taste is unbalanced with sweetness, apple tartness. sweet caramel malts and small earthly bitterness. Rather disappointed.

Appearance: Pours a caramel clear.
Aroma: Aroma of caramel, malty ands weet.
Taste: Very light bitterness, malt forward, caramel.
Palate:Light body, slick.

Summary: I’m not quite sure if this is an ESB, but it is a solid malt forward beer.

bottle, very dark red amber and great head and lacing, carbonation a bit high, very complex oily banana and malt flavor, with a sweet taste and astringent finish , Not much for hops or fruits.

An under rated style as far as I’m concerned. Poured a dark amber with a thin head. Malthus aroma with some caramel. Malthus taste too with just enough hops to balance. Well done.

Pretty clear orange amber, head initially fizzy - but ends up becoming very creamy and quite long lasting with a nice lace. Aroma is very lightly of caramel, and then moving into an almost chlorophyll green hop character. Flavor changes quite a bit - initial caramel malt sweetness, but then an almost minty hop character. Would have thought this Northern Brewer for sure with the minty note, but who really knows? I shouldn’t try to guess hops, as I’m invariably wrong. Slightly odd finish - almost like the yeast is acting up a bit. Somehow I feel like this recipe is close to being really good, but ultimately it produced just a so-so at best beer.

Sampled at the brewery. Clear mahogany pour with small ring of light tan head. Boozy sweet massive caramel and earthy hop bite. Balanced to a certain extent but leans very sweet. Not overly impressed. But not bad.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Aromas of grape candy, oranges, and some caramel. Clear, reddish-amber, with a moderately retaining, white head. Lightly sweet, nutty flavors balanced by floral, hop bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation, and a fruity, bitter finish.
