4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Aromas of grape candy, oranges, and some caramel. Clear, reddish-amber, with a moderately retaining, white head. Lightly sweet, nutty flavors balanced by floral, hop bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation, and a fruity, bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a can into a pilsner glass. Served at a wedding. Good choice. Nice and fresh. Too much alcohol for a normal esb but let's just call it an American esb. Few inches of white head dissipating into near nothing. Sweet bready aroma with some spice. Mouthfeel is heavy and carbonated. Neither too much so. Burin wouldn't want to make this a session beer. Taste is real nice. Total malts. Dark dank and sticky. As said before, a little too heavy for the style. But loads of flavor. Real good stuff!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep mahogany with a foamy head that fully diminishes. The nose has some sourdough, caramel and light esters. Flavors are of caramel, melon, stone fruit, biscuit, toasted malt and a finish of nice balanced metallic, tannin-peppery bitters. The finish is absolutely divine, honestly, and paired with the lively mouth, smooth palate, well-balanced round body and easy drinkability, itís substantive and complex, yet super quaffable. Best brew by the brewery Iíve had so far, and well worth it. Great ESB!

12oz can. Looks amber/golden. Aroma of pale and light caramel malts, bread and toast, and some light hops. Flavor the same. Average to lighter texture. Not the best beer.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can: Tea and bread crust nose. Dark copper, thick yellow head, good lacing. Bread crust flavor finishing with a wisp of smoke. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nicely done. Iíve had this before but never remembered to rate it. It gets better every time Iíve tried it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can into a pint glass. Nose sweet caramel and toffee, earthy with red fruit and light spice. Pours clear amber-copper with a fizzy tan head. Taste lightly sweet, lightly bitter (sweetness wins out but the balance doesnít seem too far tilted), good malt in a thin and watery body, toffee with prune and raisin character in the middle and red fruits and berries, touch of spice from the yeast and good use of crystal malts without overdoing it. Honestly, a really pleasant American interpretation without forcing the Americanisms (extra bitter, super citrusy hops, boozy, etc.), just sweet and malty and repeatable (also works as a contemplative sipper!). Iíd love to go back and pick up a six-pack.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz can from Pace High Carryout. Amber pour with an off-white head that leaves a slight ring. Aroma is caramel and earthy. Tastes are caramel, apple, citrus, biscuity, tea, toasted malt, yeasty. Quite like the taste, but the palate left me hanging a bit - low carbonation, slick, little watery. Overall good though.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz can. Pours a deep clear red amber with a medium long lasting thick beige head. Toasted caramel malt, grains, yeast and bready notes fill the nose, with some fruity notes and mild hops bitterness. A medium body with moderate carbonation, and mild sticky mouth feel on the palate. The finish is a combination of sweet toasted caramel malt, yeast fruity notes and mild bitterness on the end for balance. A very well made, balanced and tasty brew. drink some.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz can, Iím pretty sure I got this from Perfect Pour. Sticker on the bottom reads 03/2014. Amber-red color. Thin ring of off-white head. Some dots of lace. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Medium body. Caramel malt, some toasty malt. Some orange citrus. Lightly spicy. Moderate bitter taste. Light spicy sweet. OK ESB. A little metallic, bitter, and abrupt, but not bad. Probably better fresh. A lot of bitter orange peel in the flavor, right now.

Pretty good showing for style. Pours orangish brown with good head and lacing. Good balance, nice crisp malt. Good mix overall of elements. Tap at RFD in Chinatown.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
From a can, no visible co2. Sweeter smell. Brownish orange. Scummy head. First taste hides alky well. Not as cloying as the aroma would indicate. Grows a little malty bitter during the session. Very fine light co2 on the palate but for the most part, kindah flat. Yes, malty without hardly any hops. Has a medium medicinal finish at the end of the can. Not sure if Iíd drink another.
