COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold the subtle power of a beer whose simplicity of elements belies its complex spirit. Pilsener malt, noble Hallertau hops, lager yeast, and deep well water. By scaling up these simple ingredients we’ve turned the German pilsener "imperial" and made one of the world’s most refreshing styles of beer bigger, rounder and even more enjoyable.

(US backlog 2012) 8x draught sample flight at VA brewpub 14/ix/12. Actually enjoyable US-gargantuan, imperial take on modest old-world Pilsner, like a well-hopped (Saaz) and actually drinkable Faxe. Heavy though - when in the US and in need of hops and +7% ABV, this is a hard bargain against any decent IPA.

750ml bottle from Spirits Red Bank. Poured s chunky orange body with a smaller foamy off white head. Aroma was big and boozy with wet dough, grapes, wet nut shells, old wet grains. Full bodied with a boozy finish and lots of chewiness and heat along with strong carbonation. Flavor isnt much different than aroma, booze, wort, grains, and grapes. Not a good beer and definitely not good for the price.

750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Cases of this stuff sitting around for $4 a bottle, so I’ve grabbed a couple. Pretty solid stuff overall. Ripe and raucous pale gold pour, with a bracing nose of noble hops, pale malts, and a bit of spicy yeast. It’s that latter element that comes across strongly as you drink the beer, melding nicely with the abundant and quite dry hops. Not a world beater by any means, but it’s pretty much how I like this style done, so they get points for that.

Golden amber in color with a foamy whitish head. Balanced, smooth, malty at first. Light hops and spice, full and well rounded. Could use a bit more crispness in the finish, but overall quite good.

Hmm, it looks very pretty with murky gold pour and a big white head that slowly fades into a ton of lacing. The aroma is decent with a nice hop and malt blend. The taste unfortunately doesn’t balance as well. This is certainly one of the strangest pilsners I’ve ever tried. It leaves a very odd and unpleasant aftertaste. I suppose it’s the hops? Easily some of the worst hops I’ve ever had if so though. It’s a shame because the beer is light and creamy up front but the finish cannot be overlooked!

It has it’s regular pilsner funk but packs a punch. It’s got a touch of sweetness before the bitter kicks in, it’s nice but nothing to write home about.

Draught at the Gingerman at the Blue Mountain Event NYC sept 2012. Clear pale golden beer with a small offwhite head. Hoppy aroma. Hoppy, a bit sweet and fruity flavour.

Really not bad for a guy who doesn’t really enjoy pilsners, unless its to get college drunk. Goes down smooth and you really don’t notice the higher alcohol content. Good for a try.

Bottle, caged and corked. Drowning my football sorrows. I love the artwork on the bottle. Pours like an imperial pilsner should, I suppose ... deep golden, slightly hazy, with a giant, firm head. The nose is sweet and slightly lemony-citric. This drinks exceptionally smooth, easy to gulp, little to hint at some 7.6% ABV. Full-bodied for sure. This is some really good stuff ... Very nice on tap, a bit course with full mouth, nice head over light copper color, had a lot of delicate fruits with plenty of malt as well.
