I was worried when I popped the cap and foam started for the rim of the bottle. The amber pour quickly foamed out of the glass. The aroma was sour charcoal lighter. The flavor is bad mostly alcohol and bad. The first beer in a while I couldnít drink. Something is bad wrong here.

Pours an amber brown with no head. Aroma of malt and booze. Taste is alcohol, malt and hops. Kinda off, gives a weird finish. Not loving this.

Bomber courtesy of Suttree. Thanks! Pours a hazy red-amber color with a large fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee malts with green apple and a faint bit of band-aid. The taste is strong nail polish. Faint toffee and nuttiness but most a very harsh chemical note. Thin-medium bodied. Sadly. this is majorly off. Probably more off than any beer Iíve ever encountered. Completely undrinkable and an instant drain pour.

Not bad for an amber ale. I like that itís amped up a bit in terms of malt complexity and hops. Not super bitter but this is definitely breaking into hoppy territory. Thereís a nice bit of spiciness to go along with the caramel maltiness. No tart or sour red malt flavors that I donít want in a red unless Iím drinking something flemish or barrel aged. Good brew. I hear the recipe has changed a bit over the years so worth trying again if you havenít had it in a awhile.

650 ml. Deep red-brown with a huge, billowing Belgian-style head that prevents pouring much into the glass. This is a bit annoying, but it does settle to a nice-looking creamy frosting after a few minutes. Aroma is roasted peanut, toffee, woody hops, light coffee and cocoa. Taste is wooden hops upfront, turns to toffee and finally a peppery-bitter, dry yeast and toasted chestnut mix that has a tinge of barreled booze. Not bad, but seems a tad disjointed. Reminds me of some Italian brews I tasted that were experimenting with chestnuts. Medium body is soft and dry, with a high carbonation that fizzes up in your mouth, and shows more abv than a 7% brew should. I salute the boldness of this attempt, but it needs a little tinkering with the recipe and way less carbonation (at least in the bottled version).

Keg pour at RC Brewfest. Dark, wine red appearance with a thick, solid head. Very rich aroma - malty with some floral and a bit of sweetness. Very full, rich flavor - strong malt with a lot of hops as well. Nice balance of bitterness and sweet. Great beer - Iíll be drinking more of it.

Red, as you might expect. Smells like an amber ale, which makes sense, I suppose. Taste is caramel and black pepper. Lightly hoppy. Nothing earth shattering, but simple and tasty. Sampled at the 2012 East Nashville Beer Festival.

I was really excited to try this beer being that is from my home state. It turns out it was an extremely disappointing experience. On tap at Amsterdam Cafe, Auburn, AL. The aroma was overwhelmingly one of alcohol and very yeasty, really it smelled off. Taste was strong alcohol and something off that really didnít taste like beer at all, like a home brew gone very wrong. Overall really terrible beer, very disappointing.

Tried this at Huntsville Beer Week at Famous Joes Pizza. It was very very bad, I couldnít finsh the bear. Flavor was yeast slight malt and water (maybe it was the bottom of the keg. Had strong flavor of dish water. I later sampled it, and it tasted nothing like at Famous Joes... seems very inconsistent.

Draft at Stem and Stein. Pours amber with no head. Nose is cloying with strong alcohol. A bit of maltiness on the tongue. Lots of hoppiness on the finish. A weirdly imbalanced beer. Not exactly pleasurable to drink.
