Draft @ the Nook. Hazy brown in the glass with a creamy off-white head, that left some lasting and good lace. Nice chocolate aroma with a hint of a nut undertone. The chocolate flavor with a backing of light roast, nut, and hop. Medium body, smooth, malty aftertaste.

Pours ruby red with a tan head. Smells of some nutty hints, earthy, light fruity touches. Tastes rosey and earthy with some light citrus on the finish.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the HYP beer tasting. Pours dark brownish-red with minimal head. The aroma is bread, nuts, apples and light citrus. The flavor is fairly bitter with a good malt backbone, yet not really balanced. The palate is medium with lots of carbonation and a little astringent. Overall, an interesting beer with lots of flavor, but not really going anywhere.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2011 Draft from a growler. Aroma is quite malty -- caramel, biscuits, nuts, and some fruit (apple?). Flavor is well balanced. Lots of nuts, caramel, and roasted malt and long bitter finish. Tastes more like a brown to me. Soft mouthfeel. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Good first beer from the new folks in Huntsville.

I tried this at Famous Joe’s Pizza in Madison. Was surprised at how cloudy the beer was and had my doubts about it because I usually don’t like heavy beers. I was very surprised that it was not heavy and it had a great taste. A slight hopsy aftertase but not overpowering. I’d definitely recommend it.

This is a beautiful Red Ale with solid characteristics and a great taste.
Blue Pants is batting 1.000 with their Kickerbocker red and Pinstripe Stout.
Watch out for these guys because they have a formula that creates some of the best tasting brews I have tried.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Has a slightly sweet and hoppy aroma. The color is a brownish red and not totally clear due to its keg conditioning. Upfront is a strong matly flavor followed by a slight bitterness towards the end but overall well balanced. The mouth feel is what I love about this beer it’s not to light or to heavy, very easy to drink. This is a great beer to drink but just remember it is 7% because it hides it well!

I like the beer. Starts off nice and smooth, and has a nice malty taste to it. has a good aroma to it, and a very mellow aftertaste.
I drank about 3 before I realized the alcohol content was a little high (7.5% I believe) and it put me to sleep fairly quick.
A very good beer for people who like reds.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer starts off with a sweet presentation to the nose and the initial taste has a good bit of maltiness. The flavors switches mid way through to a mellow hop bitterness that continues through the finish.
The beer is very drinkable, but the 7.0% ABV should prevent this beer from being a session beer for many.
The beer will find many fans as the overall taste is very good even with the overly sweet taste for the style of American Red Ale.
