Our inaugurational beer. It’s a moderately hoppy, but balanced, aggressive American Red Ale with a good Cascade taste and a strong malty backbone. The good head retention and foam lets you know that this beer has a lot of body, which complements the rich hop aroma and taste.

Pours a deep amber color with a frothy white head. Nose consisting purely of caramel malt. In the flavor there is not enough balance. Too much malt and too little hops. It ended up leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Medium bodied. This is a big beer and I appreciate it but it really wasn’t very good, maybe dial back the malt a little?

Amber/toffee color. Huge tan head. Plenty of lacing. Metallic aroma with hints of caramel. Same in the taste with an added twang and dryness.

Bottle from blazer06, I think. Pours a caramel brown with a soapy off-white head. Nose is caramel and some piney hops with hints of booze and soap. Flavor is similar- caramel and light piney grassy hops with hints of booze. Light in body and a bit off-balance.

Draft at Leroy Lounge. Dark, ruddy red. Little head. Not much are to speak of. Drinks with an all-out nutty caramel character, what bitterness is here is utterly buried. Definitely for the malt crowd, maybe a decent accompaniment for a big, salty meal. (#5075, 6/15/2013)

Draft. Brown/amber with small off white head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Nice balance between malt with a bitter hop finish. More hops than one would expect from a red ale.

22 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. The pour is a golden brown, mostly clear, with a huge 4 inch noisy tan head. The head falls rockily with a lot of crackling. The aroma is caramel malt sweetness, along with a grassy floral hop. The taste is toasted caramel, grassy huskiness, and a chemical floral. The aftertaste also shows a bit of alcohol heat, which was surprising at 7% abv. As the beer warms, the chemical roughness becomes pronounced. The palate is light to medium bodied, some pretty rough carbonation and the bright dry alcohol in the finish. Thanks for sending this my way, Phil.
