Based on the California Common style but brought to the great Southeast, our Alabama Common is built from stronger stuff than western frontiersman. It’s built from the soul of the common man, with the back bone to support a man after a long day in the hot sun. Whether it’s plowing fields, harvesting cotton, picking peaches or cutting down armies that surround your castle, this crisp beer will get you through. Buckle up. Cause you’re goin’ for a ride.

Draft at the brewery. Pours hazy orange copper with a creamy white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like creamy hops, nutty, sweet orange, caramel, pine and grapefruit. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like musky hops, citrus, and light pine.

12 oz. bottle. Murky orange with a medium off-white head. Smell is bitter with some caramel malt, not too much going on. Flavor is better, hop bitterness in the front end with some malty and slightly fruity sweetness to balance it. Finishes slightly bitter.

Bottle at Mellow Mushroom Oxford. Pours particulate dark gold with a small, frothy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is biscuit, cracker, and Pils malt with earthy and minty hops. Flavor is sweet malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, a clean lager character and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark, hazy copper color, with a thin, beige head. Aroma of apples, juniper, caramel, and rye. Very bitter flavor, sour, and a little metallic. Light to medium body, very astringent, and harsh. The finish is long, bitter, metallic, and unpleasant. This is an interesting beer, but the off-putting flavor and awful aftertaste make this a beer I cannot recommend.

Bottle:   Dirty amber, thick and hazy, moderate to large frothy sandy head, spotty lacing.   Soft mealy and biscuity notes on the nose.   Airy start, thinking its on its way out.   Bready, mealy, with a bit of biscuit.   Mild sweetness in this one.   Feels a bit meatier than most Commons, yet not as clean.   Slight metallic astringency, so slight, at the backside.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes a little musty.   Bigger than most Commons, not as clean, with a little icicle on a tin roof like mineral flavoring.   Meh...

Tasted on 12/2/13 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Craft Brewed. Pours hazy burnt orange with a massive, rocky white head that slowly recedes to very thick and rocky lace. The nose is mostly piney with some bread malt and a black pepper note. The flavor is the same, this is super refreshing and drinkable. The body is light with lively carbonation and a long piney finish.
