COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Brewing Company is pleased to announce the release of a special one-off batch, brewed exclusively with members of local Long Island homebrew club Brewer’s East End Revival (B.E.E.R.). Jim Brown, Lloyd Kent, Bill Thorne, and Uncle Bobby Gormley had been brewing for years in Fort Salonga before they submitted their Brown Beaver Pilsner in the 2009 annual club Brew Cup. After judging the Brew Cup competition, Blue Point head brewer Alan Brady decided the crisp, hoppy, 7% ABV version of a classic pilsner, called Brown Beaver Pilsner, would fit right into Blue Point’s lineup of a dozen regularly brewed craft beers, which includes World Beer Cup Gold medalist Toasted Lager, RastafaRye Ale, Hoptical Illusion, and Blueberry Ale. Working closely with club winners Jim, Lloyd, and Bill (sadly Uncle Bobby passed away before the big day), Blue Point proudly brewed, bottled, and distributed the winning recipe. 1.070 OG

I guess I should rate this since I added it. Wasn’t really sure where the cut off is for Classic German Pilsener versus Imperial Pils... In any case, the beer doesn’t really get the job done for me. Some floral hop aromas are aight, but fall on a background of a corn-syrupy mess. Flavor grainy with more of that corn syrup-like sweetness. Rather astringent as well. More like a crappy industrial Strong Pale Lager to me than a craft Imperial Pils. I only managed a few ounces.

Bomber thanks to beerbill, pours a clear pale golden with a medium fluffy white head. Aroma of hops, grain, malt, and yeast. Taste similar to aroma, crisp, nice hops presence here, slight cardboard finish. Alcohol well covered and overall nice for an Imperial Pils, which I’m not usually a fan of as a Pils lover.

brought to Paul & ryan’s 5000 tasting - Dissapointing... dark grassy notes with a dry, dusty finish. Not much in the way of flavor, and body way to big to be called a pilsner.

Really not what I was expecting. Blue Point normally is a sign of such quality. Here we get an overly corn aroma on a very boring pour. Flavor is most humorously described as if Starbucks made a corn bread syrup for inclusion in Frappacinos. This strongly reminds me of Baltika 9 from way back.

Bottle shared at Paul and Ryan’s 5,000th rate tasting. Pours light gold with a thin white head. Grainy plain lager aroma. The flavor has grains, a light sweetness, and some light hoppy notes. Not awful.

I bought this not knowing what the abv was - had I known, I probably would not have bought it - this is exactly as I feared it would be once reading the actually abv - a sweet corn syrupy mess of a beer - a lot of retronasal alcohol flavor - medicinal bitterness - a lot of corn/adjunct flavor - tastes like one of those high grav lagers that you can buy in plastic 500ml bottles for about a buck fifty from small eastern european countries you’ve never heard of - how the hell can any self-respecting brewer sell this shit to customers and actually sleep at night? - the shittiness of this beer offends me - this bomber is going down the drain - next!

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold with a moderate-large white head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt. The flavor is malt with just a bit of breadiness to the aftertaste. Light bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied. One of the better offerings I have had from Blue Point.
