3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
FROM NOTES: November 22, ’13.
A: Strong aromas of citrus, sweet herb and caramel. A signature American IPA aroma with a strong hop scent and the caramel malt.
A: Pours a golden straw-yellow with a thin foamy head and some nice lacing.
T: Follows the nose with a heavy malt base (biscuit, dough, caramel, and lightly toasted malts notes). The hops are understated with equal parts piney, citrusy, and earthy hop flavors.
P: A refreshing, light body, medium carbonation mouth-feel.
O: Nothing earth shattering, but solid all the way around.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at White Oak Tavern, NY. Pours ruby golden color, cream colored head. Aroma is citrus heavy hops. Flavor is citrus, malts, a little tame compared to the Aroma. Not unpleasant but I wished the taste equaled the Aroma. Grapefruit, orange peel. Mild malt backbone. Medium bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2015 Very bubbly orange pour with a thin soapy head. Fairly generic aroma & bitterness, but pleasant, pale ale like drinkability.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hoppy mango aroma, that is quite good, cloudy appearance, taste isn’t too hoppy but it is prominent, smooth taste, slightly sweet finishes only slightly bitter

Sorry but I really don't care for this beer at all. I like IPAs. But this is not hoppy and is thin through out. Lacing is nice. Color is fine. A little citrus but that's about it for me.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slightly hazy orangish pour with thin white head. Aroma of herbs not to my liking. Strong bitter hop flavor has very little balance. Dry back-of-throught finish. Not interested in having another.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice dark deep amber color. Floral hoppy aroma. Very upfront hoppy flavor, with a sort of spicy/hoppy end of the mouth taste feel.

Clear deep orange beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, lots of ripe mango, some exotic fruits, honey, bit of caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, malty, caramel, some citrus, very fruity, passion fruits, some pineapple. Aftertaste: sweet, bit sugary, caramel, honey, sweet ripe mango, nice bitterness, some pineapple. Enjoyed this very much.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Blue Point Hoptical Illusion is you standard IPA pleasant enough for food and casual drinking. Nice moderate fresh hop aroma coming from a golden pour with ample head. Taste is floral with moderate complexity and low bitterness and a nice malt background. Hoptical Illusion is not necessarily a standout, but an enjoyable example of the style.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head and a grapefruit aroma. The hops content gives it a medium high bitterness but the finish balances out with some malt content. An ok IPA but not one of my favorites.
