Blue Point Lessing’s Local Blonde

From Post Office cafe in Babylon, NY. Clear gold color, white head. Light butter/diacetyl aroma, malts, adjuncts, cereal grains. . The flavor is the same as the aroma, maybe a little more in the way of cereal grains. Light/medium in body. The finish is resiny hops. Hardly great, but quaffable.more or less a lawnmower beer.

On tap at The Library Cafe in Farmingdale, NY. This is brewed specifically for that place by Blue Point similar to the "Local Lessings" and I believe there is going to be something of a ’Local’ series of seasonal offerings there (it is one block south of Croxley’s). This struck me as remarkably similar to the Double Blonde much in the same way as "Lessings" reminded me of "Toasted". No answer from Blue Point about whether or not it actually is a re-badge.

Poured a perfectly clear light yellow into a simple pint glass. Absolutely nothing special to note about its appearance other than "it looks like a beer". Aroma is light and thin. Flavor is mildly sweet with a little grassiness but is mostly just bland. Hops are slightly present at the finish which manages to give this beer some manner of flavor presence.

I can’t say I hated it but don’t go out of your way for it. Try it if you are in the area and want a breather from Croxley’s or if they have it on tap at the brewery itself.
