3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wow, tropical fruit + grapefruit fly out of this. On tap at tap and mallet. Slight haze, pale gold, and the palate was rich, but not cloying, almost dry, hard to do with this much malt. Very well done IIPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Moderate aromas of roasted and caramel for the malt, perfume and pine for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with hints of plum, date, cherry and pepper. Head is large, frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is sparkling clear, light amber/orange. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft to lively carbonation. Aside from the fruitiness, what I liked most about this DIPA was it’s excellent balance and cleanness on the palate.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. This reminded me of the early days of imperial IPAs in the early 2000s, with big toasty, almost scorched caramels and pungent, bitter hops, somewhat unsatisfying in its heft, lack of depth, and harsh aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2013 22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep ruby/amber with a thick, cream-colored head. Aroma of strong citrusy and floral hops, plus a lot of caramel and bready malts. Flavor about the same, with a lot of bitterness. Smooth texture. A pretty good IPA but a little too sweet.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft… Pours a clear amber with orange highlights and a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention and then lots of lacing is left behind. Tropical, citrusy and resiny hops really shine in the aroma. There are some dank, funky hops here too – sweaty socks come to mind. Full-bodied and chewy with modest carbonation. The flavor is malty sweet, yet resiny and bitter at the same time. The bitterness definitely wins out overall. Finishes bitter with long-lasting staying power.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Yech. I could use an apology. Chestnut brown, fluffy head. Fruity aroma. Loads and loads of herbal hops. Spicy, zippy with a light fruityness that clanged with the hop profile. Not fun...but hey, thanks to my pal Brian (eaglefan538) for sharing. It’s the thought that counts.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I thought this was pretty good. Starts with a slightly cloudy amber pour with a thin white head. The aroma is malty sweet with some caramel and just a hint of hops. The flavor has a nice sweet beginning followed by a balanced hop end. Dry finish, clean and crisp.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 Very fruity and hoppy in aroma. Hit with fruit and citrus hops through the beginning and middle. Banana and apricot are very noticeable. Some earthy and caramel sweetness in middle. Ends with a metallic hoppy bitter bite. Very floral as well. A bit too sweet and a little bit lacking in hops and bitterness as to what I was hoping. Very drinkable for 10% that’s for sure.

Bottle, poured in tulip glass. Rich amber with slight haze appearance and medium lacing. Very present hops in the nose. Hops and floral in the taste, with slight citrus sweetness. Great full body finish. Very pleasant double IPA.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium sized white head, fair retention and a lasting lace. Clear, amber copper hued ale. Malt aromas up front, caramel sweetness with faint citrus backing. Full bodied, soft carbonation, oily, coating. Malt sweet flavors first, toffee, caramel with just a hint of citrusy hops trying to follow up. Almost sweet finish, lil cloying, bitterness almost non-existent, some alcohol burn. Not my style of DIPA, east coast version, aint cuttin it. More of an American Strong. Bomber from statelineliquors.
