COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Brewing’s Oatmeal Stout is a rich, deeply malted extravaganza of a beer. The Oatmeal Stout is a dark beer drinker’s dream come true. The Oatmeal Stout is made from Pale, Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Malts. In addition Flaked Oats are added to the mix and the outcome is an uncommonly silky brew. This legendary dark beer is full flavored and rich tasting. A romantically delicious microbrew to share with someone special.

Tap @ OTH. Pours dark brown, mocha head. Aroma, light oat, roasted malt. Flavor, similar to aroma, hints of chocolate malts, light palate with a light grainy oat presence, finish adds a mild coffee flavor to the palate. Nice and light.

Draught @ Oldsmar Tap House, Oldsmar, FL: Pours dark brown, some amber edging, good off-white head. Aroma is traditional roasty malts and chocolate, nothing too prominent. A little light in the mouth with that same roast coffee and milk chocolate. Not bad, but more of a brown ale or porter than a stout, let alone an oatmeal stout.

Tap at Canterbury Ales. Poured a rich black with a thin beige head. Nose was chocolate and roasted malts. Not a huge nose but a pleasant one. Mouthful is a bit on the thin side. Flavor is fairly full nice coffee, chocolate and roasted malts flavors. There is an odd metallic flavor which detracts a bit. Decent bitter finish. Pretty good.

Tap at Hare Field Road, Brooklyn. Really nice stout. Pours a dark, copper-brown with a fluffy, off-white head. Nose of roasted malts and light caramel. Flavor is rich but restrained, with a strong, malty character and notes of chocolate and coffee. Pretty thick and lightly carbonated, this is a beer with some body. Lingering burnt aftertaste. Solid brew.

(Cask at George Keeley, NYC) Black. Small tan cloured head. Roastedness and chocolate in aroma. Full bodied and soft palate with little carbonation. Roastedness, ash, bitterness and chocolate in taste. Roasty and burnt aftertaste. I didn’t find the flaws the three earlier raters mentioned. Quite enjoyable.

Chelsea Cask Festival: AGreed with Pwn3d, not sure if this even counts as a stout. This brew has alot of sweet malts, high sugars, but none of the silky texture they advertise. A very thin body, unbalanced and overrated!

At the Chelsea cask ale festival. A somewhat watery stout with malty backings. Dissapointing.. I didn’t even think this was a stout..

Draft at Fette Sau.Well was enjoying my meal entirely more than this beer. Very thin for an oatmeal stout. Slight chocolate and roasted notes. Nothing special here.

At the World Beer Festival in Durham NC I tried the Cask Conditioned Oatmeal Stout - poured a dark brown/black with little head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Flavor of chocolate coffee with caramel malt. Nice smooth body with a desert like finish. Very solid brew and was lucky to find this gem being offered at the WBF.
