3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a hardly there light tan head. Aroma is quite sweet, of sweet roasted malt. Flavor of the same sweet roasted malt, weak palate. Tastes like your typical mediocre stout. Meh.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Blue Pointís tasting room. Pours black with a shortly lived tan head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt with perhaps just a hint of coffee in the nose as well. The flavor is mostly tobacco along with some roasted malt. Very mild bitterness at the finish and somewhat dry. Iím really not seeing any influence from the addition of the oats; this beer just has no oomph and lacks the silkiness on the palate. Below average stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of roast coffee, dark chocolate, dark brown, small toffee head, with some pretty lace. Flavour of coffee, dark chocolate, and almonds. Well balanced, full bodied, nicely bitter. Great!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On cask at Cask Republic - New Haven, CT. Lightly grainy aroma, touched with some almond. Flavors are okay, if mild and too heavy in the crystal malt department. The body is rather wussy, even for a cask ale. Itís lacking the right sparkle and cream. Middling, but clean, stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(cask conditioned @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thick and lasting tan head. Light and sweet aroma of chocolate, malts and a touch of oatmeal. The taste is very smooth and creamy with flavors of chocolate, roasted coffee malts and a sweet and smooth oatmeal followup. The finish is creamy and sweet.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice aroma of milk choclately malts. The flavor, however was thin & burnt, coffeeish and has a light bitterness, almost soysuace like. Not too impressed, simple for a stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle via trade with smith4498 - Pours a dark brown color with a one and a half finger thick tan head. Very light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt with hints of smoke. Flavor is lightly roasted malt, light smoke, and very light chocolate. Finish is a little dry, but slick. Medium body. A good beer. Thanks Jason.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pint at Angels and Kings, NY ($6): Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, and roasted malts. Very full flavored beer. Has some sweet notes in there, but this is not amongst the sweeter of the sweet stouts. The chocolate flavor in this beer is quite good, without being at all watery. I drank the whole thing when it was cold and it went down extraordinarily well. This is the kind of stout I can drink on a warm summer day.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had two different varieties at the Blind Tiger Ale House (NYC). The first was a cask-conditioned variety using an ex-merlot wine cask. Naturally, that had something of a sourish, winey quality. Nice. However, my rating is for the non-cask Oatmeal Stout I had subsequently which was a fairly sweet and roasty oatmeal stout. Quite thick.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strong aroma has firm tones of roast coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and molasses plus a hint of honey. It is sweet but not cloying or repulsive. Pours a deep sable just a whisker or two above black with a thick, fluffy and rather persistent light tan head. Flavor, unfortunately, does not quite live up to the very tempting aroma. It has the mocha and molasses tones that the aroma promised, but these are on the wan and watery side. Texture has watery body and not much fizz. Finish is smoky with coffee, chocolate and caramel notes. OK, not great, but worthy of at least a try.
