Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, roasted malt, light nuttiness, and a slight hint of fruit. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a two finger beige head with decent retention. Some thin webbing is left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of dark chocolate. There’s a touch of sweet cocoa in the background. The finish has roasted malt, nuts, and light coffee.

Bomber Bottle,
this beer had a black-brown pour and made a tan colored head that was more than a finger high, this beer was dark and opaque but I could see bubbles flowing up the sides of the glass, it left spots and fingers of lacing on the sides of the glass,
the aromas were roasted malt, chocolate with a hint of coffee, and there was some malt and chocolate sweetness,
the roasted malt was out front and the chocolate was in the background,
the flavors were roasted malt with a little chocolate, the finish had a little bitterness,
the mouth feel was a little thin, and had lively carbonation,
a ok drink.

Review from notes at World of Beer - Fort Myers on 11/17/11.
Poured on draft into a shaker pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a dark woody brown with a 1/2 finger medium tan head. Decent lacing.
Smell: Earthy malt with a light touch of roasted malt.
Taste: Roasted malt up front followed by sweet citrus in the middle before ending with unsweetened chocolate at the finish. Aftertaste is unsweetened chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a high amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Decent drinkability. You wouldn’t want more than a couple.
Overall: Decent beer overall. It doesn’t taste anything like what I expect from an oatmeal stout. I wouldn’t recommend this one.

Tap, Bohemian Hall, Queens, 17/12/11. Thick yellow-tan collar on a pitch body. In this light, anyway. Grilled veg, dusted cocoa, mellow burnt milk choc taste rubbed with charcoal and vanilla. Very successfuly captures the soft, sessionable beauty of a UK stout. Felt very at home wandering around with a pint of this in my hand. Beer of The Trip So Far? Not had Lagunitas Sucks yet.

10/19/11. On tap. Not quite black pour, dark brown, with a thick, fluffy tan head that sticks forever but doesn’t lace much. Very light aroma of chocolate and muted roast. Soft flavor of milk chocolate and a lingering hint of roast. Overall, the flavors are on, and there isn’t a lot wrong with the flavors, but the beer is pretty thin, almost watery. There is a very nice smooth, silky mouthfeel, though.

i really enjoy this beer served in part with the blue point blue berry, known as the black and blue. but by itself it is a more than respectable beer. it has an average alcohol content despite its appearance that most dark beers acquire. blue point does call it a meal in a glass so be prepared to be full. but also done ignore the strong chocolate flavor, roasted malt flavor and full stomach you will taste and feel.
