3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Orange Amber Color with nice effervescent. Smells like fall. The body is similar to other Blue Point brews. Not a bad flavor but feels like a typical Blue Point Beer with some fall spices added. OK but not the best Oktoberfest.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at Momo's Tennessee St. Dark gold pour with small white head that fades quickly. Aroma of boring pale malts and light bready sweetness. Flavor is very similar and not interesting. Pretty bland.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, golden-amber body with a small, near white head.
Smell: Mild bready malt scent, a little foraged apple with some sweetish hints to it. That’s about it.
Taste: Modestly bready malts given a pinch of powdered sugar. Cidery apple hints. Very faintly spicy hops, near nil bitterness. Folds back in the sweetness until the near crisp, quick finish. Sadly, this one totally lacks complexity, even for a simple, little O-fest.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation. Feels a little soda pop-like at times.
Overall: It’s not nice to point fingers. It’s also not nice to Blue Point Oktoberfest.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
If you have to think about what flavors you just got in a beer or you have to make a conscience decision to pay attention to the palate, then it’s probably not a good beer. That’s what I had to do with Blue Point Oktoberfest - another generic, bland and just plain boring American take on the Marzen style.
I poured a 12oz bottle into my OktoBEERfest mug.
Appearance: Beautiful, crystal-clear shade of bright orange copper. Forms a large, off-white, soapy head which mostly dissipates, but does leave pretty nice lacing on the glass.
Smell: Typical lager aroma with no distinct ingredients - just generic grain scent. Possibly adjunct funk.
Taste: Even though I’m giving Blue Point Oktoberfest a thumbs down, it’s not a beer I am hostile to. It’s much more neutral-tasting than it is bad tasting. It’s just that there’s not much for the taste buds to grasp onto here. Most beers I can drink and recognize the flavors and analyze the palate without having to think too intently about it. With this one I had to savor each swig so I’d know what to write for this review. I’m still struggling to find appropriate descriptions.
It’s closer to an economy lager than a true Marzen. Not particularly bitter, not sweet at all. Beers of the style should have a toffee and caramel taste, but this does not. It just tastes like the epitome of lager. There’s even a trace of sour or metallic flavor right as it finishes, but I think only sensitive palates would detect this. At least it has a clean aftertaste, but isn’t what I’d call a refreshing beer.
Drinkability: A fairly thin body and mouthfeel all around, it feels wet in the mouth and finishes clean. Not very effervescent so it’s easy to drink Blue Point Oktoberfest in big gulps, although the lack of appeal to the palate will likely prevent binging. The 5.5% ABV weight seems a bit high, as it drinks like a light macro lager.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle poured into snifter. Didn’t really find anything super special about this one. Up front malt presence with a slightly sweet flavor. Didn’t knock my socks off but it was easily drinkable and not super sweet.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a light biege foamy head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is sweet and fruity. Flavor is sweet malt, with hints of apricot and honey. A lingering mild hop bitter creeps in as the aftertaste. Medium bodied, slightly slick with mild carbonation.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Classic fest appeal -- amber, bubbly and well-topped. There’s a stark appley aroma, like cider’s brewing on the stove. It drinks with the same similar appeal -- sweet, orchard-fruity, and light bodied. (#4482, 2/23/2012)

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is mind and slightly acidic with malt and grassy hops. The appearance is orange gold with a small head. The taste is like the aroma and bread like. The palate is average. Overall a decent beer.
