COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Octoberfest is another palate-pleasing seasonal brew. Originally brewed in 1810 to celebrate the betrothal of the Crown Prince of Bavaria, Blue Point continues the celebration by traditionally brewing this special malty amber lager every October. Octoberfest lager is stored cold for 2 months to ensure its distinct smooth flavor. Tap a pint and celebrate the season!

Malty, nutty, slightly sweet with a hint of caramel. Smooth and full with a lingering finish and a hint of hops bitterness. Balanced overall.

Bottle, screw-top. Nose very sweet and malty with light spice, a little grassy citrus but not much, maybe some nice Munich. Pours bright clear orange with a dense off-white head. Taste floral and a bit too sweet, there’s some nice but faint hop backing, light spice therefrom, light bitterness and a light-medium body with a thinner malt than expected -- but if there’s Munich here, it’s nice, and if not, well, fooled me.

Good tasting beer, not too bitter, that leaves a slightly foamy head that quickly dissipates.

Bottle. A friend putting us up for a couple days had this in his fridge, and gave us one for the road. I find the aroma to be very subtle, almost can’t smell anything. Taste is mild, not bitter at all. Color is a light orange.

Bottle. Orange copper pour with a finger of white head. Floral and sweet. Medium to light body with medium carbonation. Sweet overall with some bitterness in the finish.

bottle. Underwhelming Oktoberfest beer. Might be past its prime, but hard to believe this was ever very good.

Light sweet malt aroma. Clear orange color with a medium white head that fades quickly. Sweet beginning with a light bitter finish.

kramer (5108) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 20, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear orangish copper body with a one finger fizzy beige head that faded quickly to a thin film. The nose is pretty decent, slightly sweet munich malt, and a minimal hoppiness. There’s a bit of huskiness that isn’t real wonderful though, as well as a bit of fruitiness that doesn’t fit as well. The flavor is a bit too sweet, with a bit of a grape like sweetness on the back end. This could use a bit of hops in here to help offset the sweetness a bit. Medium bodied with a bit of stickiness and soft fizzy carbonation. Can’t say that this one measures up too well against the better examples of the style.

Draught at Rattle & Hum NYC sept 2012. Clear amber beer with a offwhite head. Hoppy, fruity and malty aroma. Hoppy, a bit spicy and fruity flavour.

glennmastrange (2331) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Bottle. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, light grass for the hops, with hints of dried fruit and metal. Head is small, frothy/fizzy, white with fair lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear light amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Pretty mild, but everything standard in an Oktoberfest.
